Hi all, We have a fair amount of openSUSE 11.1 DVDs in stock that we want to clear out before 11.2. If you have a way to distribute these, please let me know. I'm especially interested in sending to schools and organizations with a lot of users. Want some DVDs? Moin, not all but a good bunch of videos we put to http://community.opensuse.org/conference/ as .dv files. Now we're looking for helping hands for post production of the videos. To ease the download pain you should use a download manager like Down Them All or aria2 DigitalTom created a how to page a while ago: http://en.opensuse.org/Recording_openSUSE_Talks He volunteered also to upload the files to tube.o.o when ready. Hi all, I've set up a freebie Basecamp account for openSUSE marketing tasks. Why not use the wiki for everything? Because it doesn't support sending reminders, etc. If you are planning to be an active participant in the ambassadors program, 11.2 launch, events, let me know and I can set up a login for you. [opensuse-marketing] Linux Day 2009 - Rome (Italy)

Hi all. Just for info, I'm going to host a session and a booth at the Rome based 'Linux Day 2009' event, a yearly event that is held since 9 years in more than 100 cities in Italy simultaneously (www.linuxday.it) organized by LUGs with the supervision of the Italian Linux Society (ILS: www.linux.it). This year the organizing LUG has requested to develop sessions for tech guys, and for example the openSUSE presentation I'm working on is targeting to show what the distro can be used for within professional environment (obviously, after having 'presented' openSUSE itself). I'll be using a couple of nice Posters at the booth (thanks gnokii for your work! :-)) and will be distributing also promo DVDs, and there is also a plan for burning cd/dvds in the event that all dvds will finish. In addition, for this year I've been asked to help in hosting FAQ sessions for newbies as well. As usual, the Ambassador/Events and the User:Miumiento/Events pages have been modified to include this event as well. There are blog posts going around, and there is a Facebook group as well, all linking to the organizer page with all the details. Hi all, it's been a while since we talked Trademarks. We're getting closer to 11.2 and so it's time to think about any revisions to the trademark guidelines. If you have any comments, please send them to me directly. I'll summarize the comments that I get and we'll go from there. Feel free to discuss on the list, but I am not making any commitment to try to collect comments out of a long discussion thread. :-) So, if you have thoughts on how the trademark guidelines should be improved, please send to me directly. I'm also not promising that every suggestion will be taken, but now that we've had the guidelines for nearly a year, we have some idea how well (or not) they're working. In particular, would be interested in: * Are there typical use cases that should be allowed, that aren't? * Are there abuses we should be concerned about? * What sections are still confusing? The huge number of proposals is the reason why they missed the scheduled date for answering the approval on September the 15th and instead the approval has arrived on October the 4th. The event schedule is now expecting to have a couple of Ministers (Bondi and Brunetta) attending the event, in addition to University professors and researcher, plus some R&D staff and local government representatives. The congress is not 'free of charge' but there is an entrance fee for the three days of 120 € (150 € if you also want to partecipate to a group dinner). I've sent an updated version of the document and it can be found on the same links as it was before [1] and linked on my page [2]. [opensuse-marketing] Suggestion for Ambassador program - Media

I'm new to the Ambassador program and I know something with regard to media is already in place so please excuse any redundancy in this suggestion. When promoting OpenSUSE (or any OS/software), I find that having nicely packaged media to give away makes a huge difference in peoples perceptions. For example, if I burn a bunch of copies of OpenSUSE myself and try to give them away, few people take is seriously and I suspect mostly then end up in the trash. It's understandable really, would you trust software handed to you on a burnt DVD from a stranger? But nicely packaged in shrink wrap, you feel like you really got something. Even the people who never use it are likely to hang onto it longer and it acts as advertising. So, IMHO I feel that giving away OpenSUSE media is one of the best ways of doing promotion. Can someone fill me in on the details of the current ambassador/media program (if any).
