Purging unneeded packages and dependencies:

Hi, I am wondering about how I should best go about purging packages and possibly dependencies along with what is displayed after passing 'zypper pa --unneeded'. I can use 'zypper remove --clean-deps' to remove the package along with it's uneeded dependencies or set 'solver.cleandepsOnRemove = true' in '/etc/zypp/zypp.conf'. Is it safe to set solver to clean up the dependencies on package removal in '/etc/zypp/zypp.conf' ? Can you tell me why it may be a bad idea to do this? I recently used 'zypper rm packagenames' to remove packages that 'zypper pa --unneeded' displayed on a machine without removing any dependent packages. I am working with another machine now and when I passed 'zypper pa --unneeded' the list is once again quite extensive > https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/2824e60628ce What do you recommend with this situation. L13 Yoga: can't resume from suspend (s2idle) unless I plug AC cable

Hi! After being suspended for a while (30 min?) my laptop gets so energy efficient it doesn't wake up when opening the lid or pressing power button. Plugging the AC cable wakes it up enough pressing ESC at the same time wakes the laptop up. Any ideas on how can I fix this? OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed, clean install Last time this worked: before updating the BIOS for the last time. Currently testing: enabling all wakeup sources from /proc/acpi/wakeups to workaround it. Early distro update to Leap 15.6

The 15.6 release candidate is now fixed, so I am thinking of doing a system upgrade now to resolve two issues with 15.5, one long-standing, the other occurring within the last week. Are there any issues which might make that a bad idea? If not, will another full update be needed when the final version is released on June 12?

Kernel update error Leap 15.6 KDE

I updated my ThinkPad to 15.6 several weeks ago. It went well. However, whenever the software updates runs, it lists kernel default, default extra and default optional version 6.4.0-150600.21.3. When I try to install those, I get an error "Update Error There is no update candidate for ..." However, Yast software management shows 6.4.0-150600.23.7.3 is installed. Any idea how to clear this? Why it's trying to install old versions? tnx jk

Leap 15.6 randomly suspends

Hello, never had this issue with Leap <=15.4. The PC randomly (sometimes after days, sometimes only after a few hours of now HID-input) goes into suspend mode: (from /var/log/messages: ) 2024-07-30T20:57:09.297900+02:00 lambda systemd[1]: suspend.target: Collecting. But that is not the issue, I do not want the PC to go into suspend mode at all. Can't find anything related in /etc/sysconfig or any file related to suspend/sleep in /etc. If it is somehow caused by the display or window manager, I use GDM and Gnome, but in the latter's setting suspend is also disabled. USB headset issue

My system is Leap 15.5 and recently I acquired 2 USB headsets (over-the-ear speakers and boom mic) and as of yet I am unable to figure out how to make either of them work. I did get audio out to them once but the system has yet to see the mic, it doesn't see any sound hardware except that on the mobo. Yes, it was late and no, I don't remember what I was doing to get the sound to the headset. Any clues toward resolving this would be appreciated. Thanks, Fred
