ProtonMail Bridge on LEAP?

Hi, all -- Before I go over to support@ since I doubt this is actually a LEAP problem, ... Is anyone familiar with the ProtonMail Bridge and do you have it installed on a LEAP (or, heck, any SuSE) system? How to subscribe to a list by email?

Hello:I sent a message to kde3(a)lists.opensuse.org (I thought I was a list member) but got back a message saying Your message to the openSUSE KDE 3 mailing-list was rejected for the followingreasons:The message is not from a list memberThere was no any information in the letter on how to subscribe to the given list.At the home page of the mailing lists (lists.opensuse.org site) there is no information either on how to subscribe to a list by email.Earlier (before this hiperkitty madness) there was detailed information on the website how to subscribe to a list. The email answer from the list also included how to subscribe to the list (to what address to send what).Where can I found this information? Why the emails and the website don't contain it?Thanks,Istvan

Is chmod broken?

I ran into a problem in OpenSuSE 15.5 trying to start the cron.service daemon. It failed because the directory at /etc/cron.d was empty (which in previous releases of OpenSuSE it was not empty). The cron.service file, as supplied from the installation repos, has a couple of ExecStartPre shell commands shown here - (the second ExecStartPre command seems to be redundant, but I don't know that for sure, because I don't know how chmod is suppose to handle recursion and wildchars. Man pages seem unclear about this). ExecStartPre=+/bin/sh -c '/bin/chmod -R 0744 /etc/cron.*' # Only do the following ExecStartPre if there is something in /etc/cron.d ExecStartPre=+/bin/sh -c '/bin/chmod -R 0644 /etc/cron.d/*' Even commenting out the second ExecStartPre command doesn't solve the failure I was getting from the first chmod command. Anywise I managed to fix this issue by using the following ExecStartPre commands instead - ExecStartPre=+/bin/sh -c '/bin/chmod 0744 /etc/cron.*' ExecStartPre=+/bin/sh -c '/bin/chmod -R 0744 /etc/cron.*/*' So, is the script in cron.service wrong/broken or is chmod itself broken? (or maybe my version of OpenSuSE 15.5 is screwed up somehow? won't be the first thing to have gone wrong with it on my new laptop! sigh) Marc...

Run 'xset -dpms' on resume from suspend

After I resume from suspend DPMS is enabled. I want is always disabled so the screen savers run when I walk away for it long enough. Any way to automate this? Is there a way to specify a script to run on resume from suspend? TIA, Jeffrey

[TW] Alternative PDF viewer to Okular

My government tax department (UK HMRC) has sent me a PDF form to complete. It is designed to be completed on screen, and then printed, but okular does not offer editing controls to complete the form. I have used okular to complete other pdf forms on this computer so I think the problem is with the form. My system is Tumbleweed + KDE. Can anyone recommend an alternative PDF viewer to try? My 3 or 4 KDE-employing systems all use xeyes as the mouse-arrow locating utility since an earlier one called mouse-trails died out in the 4.x epoch. Gotta have something like this with 1920+ resolution. https://imgur.com/1ADm9h8.png {OT: wallpaper is my snow-removal log, clearly shows warming} To get the eyes there I drop links into a remote 'bashers-linked' folder that contains links to bash scripts such as my-xeyes.bsh elsewhere, the .profile file is also a link to a common remote .profile file with lines such as these in it: cd 0/bashers-linked bash my-xeyes-launch.bsh The reason I link is to protect the folder of real scripts :-) I use this system in TW, Slowroll, Artix and maybe annother KDE setup (about half use KDE, the other half XFCE). There have been issues needing fixing from tiome to time, the latest one is that booting TW erases the links. I'd like to trap the culprit but don't really know how, but it is a PITA. While on TW, the reason I cited the exception for kernel 6.7.2 is that while that appears in the grub2 boot menu, selecting it results in a boot to command-line only.
