[opensuse] Are new post-install hooks causing rpm to run after reboot?

All, After updates today, the computer(s) were extremely slow after reboot. So being curious I launched top to find out what was grinding away. To my surprise, rpm was the main culprit, just churning away for the first few minutes after reboot -- along with a grub install. What is rpm doing running? Why was the grub install and grub-mkconfig not run by dracut prior to reboot? -- David C. [opensuse] Python: OBS vs PIP

I am trying to get tensorflow and related packages installed on openSUSE Leap 15.1 and/or Tumbleweed. We have a package from a consulting company who have developed with tensorflow 1.14, but OBS has only 1.15. Seems this is not compatible. I can install tensorflow via zypper or pip3. It seems they install the same version, which looks to be the version in OBS. My question is: what is the relationship between packages built in OBS and that are also available via pip3? I looked around in the openSUSE docs and there is lots on how best to build a package on OBS (via py2pack that looks very useful!). But that is from the developer's view. What about from the package user's view? Most Python packages have a setup functionality that get the needed bits via pip. Is that effectively just getting thighs from OBS? The reason I used tensorflow as an example is that for many systems (Ubuntu as an example) older versions of packages seem to be available via pip. Looking through my videos, the most demanding I have now at 1080p with DTS HD 5.1 w/ multiaudio, needs 38Mbps. It is an 8-bit encoding I'd say that works comfortably with a PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY, however, about 7-10 years ago, **PREEMPT_NONE** **failed** **frequently**, even with the much less demanding streams available then. Of note -- I'm not sure how this interacts with the above, though I run a tickless clock, it still wants a clock Hz which I have set at 1000Hz. I don't have any of the newer 4K vids which would need about 4X the BW, not to mention the 8K video that Nvidia was just demoing with their latest 3xxx series cards. Additionally many newer videos have 10-12 bit color with 48-bits of color -- I'd expect that to go to 16bit within the next few-several years as a round-up of the 14bit range for the human eye. I really don't think the NONE config is going to be useful for most server configs unless they are pure "batch"-job machines with no interactive or user dependencies. Hi, I have this line to image a disk partition and compress it: dd if=/dev/nvme0n1p2 status=progress bs=16M | pigz > nvme0n1p2.gz How could I insert in the pipe the md5 calculation of the non-compressed stream, stored to a file? [opensuse] automount dvd as DVD, not volume name

Hello: I have openSUSE Leap 15.1 (with KDE 3 it matters). Currently optical media (DVD, CD) is mounted/automounted as /media/<media-vol-name>. I don't like this behavior, I would like these to be mounted as /media/DVD. How can I set it? I don't want to change fstab and set fstab rule. I would like to change the way the system names the recognized media. Firefox v 80.0.1 installed yesterday and it seems to be slow loading pages. This does not happen with other browsers. Has anyone else noticed this? [opensuse] printer import (in 15.2 from 15.1)

Hello :-) I have an old 15.1 install on this computer and a new 15.2 one. is there a way to import the printer setup from the old 15.1 install?
