[opensuse] Linux 5.7 Released -- and it works too!

All, Somewhat old new, but the 5.7 kernel is now released and it works. Phoronix detailed the new features in: https://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=29069 And provides detailed articles on many of the individual new features: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=search&q=Linux%205.7 and the best news (at least for me thus far) is that modules that get recompiled and generally break on new minor-version updates like VirtualBox, etc.. didn't (kudos to the VirtualBox folks for being ahead of the game this time) So far -- no surprises -- which is a good thing... -- David C. [opensuse] thunderbird: How to get all email adresses from one folder?

Hello, there once was a tunderbird add-on "email address crawler" that did exactly what I wanted: - extract all names and email addresses from all mails in /one/ folder in thunderbird and add them to a new addressbook or list I can't find anything similar (this one doesn't work anymore and will not be updated because the author doesn't like the current add-on policy) Do you know an add-on or any other tool that can extract that data from all mails in a thunderbird folder? I don't care if it adds to a thunderbird address book or simply writes a textfile. thanks for hints! [opensuse] zypper (zypp.conf - solver.onlyRequires) what logic governs package selection (recommends)?

All, What controls what is and what is NOT a recommended package for any given package install? 15.2 and I went to install dvd+rw-tool, libdvdread, libdvdnav4 and libdvdcss2 with the 32-bit versions of those with them. 6 packages total. With zypper in there were 85 packages selected for install?? Setting solver.onlyRequires = true (or --no-recommends) reduces the number to 8. A 10-fold decrease in the number of packages. So what controls all of the recommends? (most were counter-part 32-bit libraries for everything on the system since a 32-bit version of libdvdnav4 was specified). Is there any finer-grained control other than just the --no-recommends hammer? -- David C. Provided I have the former exfat support installed on my system, is this a problem when now kernel 5.7 comes, with integrated new exfat support and is there any action needed from my part (like e.g. un-install of the former rpm)? [opensuse] 15.2 with ext4 (only) install - Why is btrfsmaintenance-refresh.foo "enabled" by default?

All, Again with pure ext4 install, I have btrfsmaintenance-refresh.path btrfsmaintenance-refresh.service enabled by default. I thought that was going to be addressed in the 15.0 timeframe? It's easy enough to disable and remove the btrfs packages, but it shows the partitioner still isn't smart enough to remove the btrfs defaults when there is no btrfs at all. Bug it? -- David C. [opensuse] Question About Accessibility

Greetings This is Analis. I sent an Email this morning and have not yet got a response. I have a question about the accessibility in Opensuse. I was wondering if it is possible to install Opensuse using the screen reader, as I am completely blind. I know that when I press F9 on the startup screen after booting to the disk, I get speech output. However, after choosing the installation option and waiting for the installation window to load completely, I get no speech output. I have tried pressing the Alt+Meta+S key combination to start the screen reader. I have also tried pressing Alt+F2 to open the run dialogue box, typing orca and pressing Enter. Both of these attempts have failed me.
