[opensuse] libreoffice - best source?

In response to my earlier thread about downloading the help files for LO, I thought I would ask around here on this one to get opinions from people with experience. It seems that there are 3 strong options to choose from when it comes to LibreOffice. 1 - the standard repositories, OSS and update 2 - the LibreOffice repository at download.opensuse.org - http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/LibreOffice:/5.2/ 3 - the LibreOffice web site - http://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ So, in anyone's opinion, what is the best? I tend to use only the standard repositories, but the issue with the help file no longer being included has made me re-think what I want to do. The only other really *significant* problem I have had with LO is that if I create a spreadsheet, and it gets only a little bit large, like just barely extending the visible view, something happens in the program that starts to make the response time slow down significantly. For this reason, if I am doing anything of substance in a spreadsheet, I have switched back to using Excel through wine or virtualbox. I don't think that is an issue of which source it comes from, because I tried different versions, and the slowness was unchanged. But besides that, any opinions on which is the best LO source to use? [opensuse] ssh keep alive?

Hi, I don't have this problem on the LAN, but when connecting via Internet to my home server, I find after some time of no use that the terminal does not respond any more. I have to "kill ssh" to recover that terminal. I suppose I have to use a keep alive option. [opensuse] What app to use in Android equivalent to Linux scp?

Hi, I wish to download files in an Android tablet via scp (ssh) using keys, not passwords. The apps I have seems to say LAN. I no longer see ssh in ES File explorer, and when I tried a year ago it was very slowww. The target is running openSUSE Linux. I also wonder about an ssh terminal. [opensuse] Latest kernel breaks hibernate

Hi, kernel-default-4.4.46-11.1.x86_64 breaks suspend to disk for me. 4.4.36 works (it's just very slow). What are my options? Hello, Having trouble launching Steam after an update the other day. The "Verifying Install" window pops up right after I click the icon and promptly closes with no error. [opensuse] fyi only - out of memory with 128GB of RAM!

All, I just thought this was worth sharing. I've got the 128GB RAM PC I built up last spring (much discussion on this list). I don't have a swap space setup because who could ever use that much RAM. The OOM background tool just kicked in and killed one of my tasks! Top agrees and says I only have 10GB of RAM free (after killing my task). Setting up swap space now! Background: I have a couple of Tumbleweed (intel and ARM) machines at work. These are behind the corporate firewall. This firewall scans every file download for viri and the like. If a file is suspect, you don't get it. I have encountered a problem where a couple of openSUSE RPMS look suspicious to this check, and are blocked from download. At least this is what the IT guys feel is happening. The specific files change. But if a file fails, it will always fail. So it is consistent. For example, at the time of this message, this file is not allowed: http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/suse/i686/kernel-pae-4.9.9… Another unpopular file is kernel-firmware. And, the Windows versions of Tcl and Tk. But others pop up occasionally. I had thought that I would just grab the files from home, put them on my machine, and all will be fine. The problem is that Tumbleweed is quite active. The files change over the day. So getting the ones that cause the complaint is difficult. When I get back to work, new files may complain. Question: The IT guys have offered to white list a site where the files will be passed through. So I thought I would suggest download.opensuse.org. The problem is that zypper uses mirrors. So the downloads may not actually come from there. I thought I would just specify a local mirror in the URL. Unfortunately, mirrors seem not to mirror everything on download.opensuse.org. So, I thought I might use the mirror URL for the repos that the mirror has. But that leaves the other repos. Like http://download.opensuse.org/update/tumbleweed/, which I do not see on the mirrors I have checked. Is it possible (even though I understand that it is perhaps bad netiquette) to tell zypper to not use a mirror? At least this may allow me to verify that, when white listed, the files from a repo can be obtained.
