I'm running libreoffice 5.0 and the icon themes are 'flat' and colourless, not the defaults ones from the past. [opensuse] network setup in leap 42.1

Hello: In openSUSE 13.2 the traditional network setup (ifup in yast) was removed and wicd (??) was introduced which I didn't like when I tried. Along with ifup kinternet/qinternet and related packages, eg smpppd (SuSE Meta PPP Daemon, the back-end for kinternet) have been removed too. I am curious how network manager independent network setup occurs in leap 42.1? Does it have kinternet on something similar? [opensuse] Does 13.2+ work with shorewall properly yet? Read about wicked/systemd woes

Good day, I am trying to find out of shorewall is supposed to work with 13.2 properly, as I read about systemd stuff being in the midst of creation and wicked and sort of that things that make it problematic to run something different from susefirewall2. [opensuse] DHCPv6-PD request

My ISP is finally rolling out IPv6. One thing that's required is for the router to make a DHCPv6-PD request to get the prefix info etc. I don't know if my router/firewall, based on openSUSE 13.1 is doing that. I don't see anything in Wireshark that would indicate it's making that sort of request. I'm also not aware of any configuration that would enable it. [opensuse] Kernel 4.5 runs great!

regular readers will recall that I've mentioned before: I'm on 13.1 and few leading repositories, one of which is Kernel_Stable. I've just upgraded to 4.5 and yes it is an improvement in many ways. The whole 4.x series has been pretty goo, each step along the way being in improvements, particularly with locking and blocking in the kernel, that result in better responsiveness. Discussion of same at http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux-45-features&num=1 "The Many New Features & Improvements Of The Linux 4.5 Kernel" I'm looking forward to 4.6 :-) Given the stability of 13.1 (and its tumbling) and the continual teething troubles reported here with LEAP, I'm staying with this configuration for the foreseeable future. I'd advise anyone who has the spare resources or inclination to try the 4.x series kernels. At the very least, they have updates to BtrFS that offer stability an improvement over the 3.x series. [opensuse] OT: how to secure firefox passwords on android?

Hi, sorry for this OT but I don't find any advice in other places and as here are so many bright brains I dare to ask... I wanted to save some passwords (as for my webmail) in firefox on my android phone. To secure it I've put a master password. But this is a pure joke. Except when I really turn off the phone and on again, I am asked for that master password, but from then, firefox connects with my webmail without ever asking me again. So actually that master password serves for nothing. Does anybody know how I can secure my firefox passwords, so that in case somebody steals my phone he has no access to my mail accounts? (I do not do banking etc. on the phone, so I need it only for firefox. The password apps I found simply put a password for those who don't know how to use a file explorer :-( ) thanks for hints! [opensuse] Baloo finally fixed for text file indexing

Two years ago, the Baloo team installed a temporary fix which lurked in the code for a while (almost a year before it was pushed to production release) which disabled indexing of all text mime-type files unless they had the extension of .txt. This finally got fixed in the most recent KDE upgrades (both 4.14.x and Framework 5 / Plasma 5). The fix happened two months ago, and finally got into Opensuse repositories within the last couple days. I relied on this to index a huge code base composed of files which were all text, but didn't have extensions of .txt and so they all stopped being indexed, as well as most of my historical mail archives. I found I had to nuke the baloo database ( balooctl disable) and rebuild it (balooctl enable) in order to get the re-index to occur. Privoxy listens on standard port, no difference if firewall is on or stopped. With wlan and privoxy it is just: no connection at all. I tried with "change name via dhcp" or without. I also solved the being listed in the firewall list as external interface. One needed to configure in wicked before to have correct functionality. But it worked without problems for the internet. It was just that wlan0 was not in the listing of interfaces. Now everything is "as it should", no particular restrictions, standard setting......and no internet with privoxy.
