In Configure Desktop I am using Startup and Shutdown to run automatically my standard l programs for startup after reboot. Since some weeks though Kmail will not show up. Only a new message shows up without the main kmail page. Choosing Kmail from the menu does not work as said before. The program uses the command "kmail -qwindowtitle %c %u" With the above result. [opensuse] gnome instead of kde - konsole?

Okay, a friend of mine suggested I try out Gnome - KDE has been a little troublesome recently. - is there no konsole app in Gnome? [opensuse] installation, clickable world map for timezone - how big can Liechtenstein be?

Certainly not a bug, perhaps a slight nuisance, but really just funny - when I use the graphical YaST during installation, and I get the world map for selecting a timezone, in 9 cases out of 10, on the first try I manage to put the mouse over Liechtenstein. Fiddling a little I manage to move to Switzerland. The area of Liechtenstein is only about 160km2. The neighbouring countries - Switzerland is 41000km2, Austria is 84000km2, Germany is 357000km2. [opensuse] strange new issue - sftp suddenly required mount options: nodev and nosuid

All, openSUSE 13.2, not fully patched, but not too many weeks since I did a zypper up. Kernel: 3.16.7-35-desktop === When I tested the SFTP connection it failed. I got errors in /var/log/warn that the volume required "nodev" and "nosuid" mount options for sftp to work. I had made ZERO changes to /etc/fstab recently and I've used that sftp server for at least 2 of my clients in the last week. Why did my working setup suddenly start failing? Did I have a security hole before that is now fixed? FYI: I've added those to mount options to fstab and it works again now. === details that I assume triggered this somehow I was doing some maintenance on my sftp server. I have a dedicated mount point at /srv/sftp where I have various individual users sftp only directories. I don't let them have sh access, only sftp. Apparently that mount point became corrupt over time. I ran fsck on it (manually) today. It had a lot of reported issues, and then a empty filesystem was all I had left. Not a big deal in this case, and I'd had a hardware issue that may have caused the corruption. I wasn't overly concerned and there was nothing of real value in that volume anyway. I recreated a couple of key user directories. When I tested the SFTP connection it failed. [opensuse] Adding a CRL

[opensuse] Typical time to wake up Console on a headless PC?

All, I've had a KVM setup with a Leap 42.2 (beta) machine running for a few months. In the past I had issues with not being able to wake the console up if it had gone to sleep. (I could still ssh in. etc.) RC1 seems much more reliable, but it takes about 15 seconds after I reconnect the USB keyboard/mouse before the console comes back to life. It feels like a long time, but I don't know what normal is? My Windows PC on the same KVM is basically instantaneous. I've got all the power saving features disabled in KDE. I really don't want openSUSE turning if off my monitor at all. When I flip the KVM to the box, I want to have video immediately. To be honest, I don't login at the Console all that much (mostly I connect over the network). So I don't know if the KDE settings have any impact if I'm not logged into the Console? [opensuse] scripting usb pen recovery

Hello, I have a bunch of usb pen written as various openSUSE dvd/live stick. I want to reset them to be ordinary ones. The SDB is here: https://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=SDB:Live_USB_stick&diff=next&oldid=… but it's not handy for many copies. It's not that difficult to copy this in a script, but it makes it a very dangerous script in case of sdX X error :-( I noticed imagewriter knows if a plugged device is usb pen or not is there a way to do the same in a script?
