[opensuse] Kernel 4.2.0 + Nvidia driver

The latest Nvidia drivers (x.30 & *.41) will not compile with the new kernel 4.2.0-1. If you are going to install the latest kernel take steps to make sure that you can still boot into your system - eg, make a backup of /boot before running the upgrade. [opensuse] Grub2 does not boot

Hi, After ugrading OS12.3 to OS13.2 (from scratch), the PC fails to boot. I get to the grub2 rescue console. After booting with the rescue mode of the DVD/stick I ran the bootinfoscript. The result is here : http://susepaste.org/3633045 You can ignore sdc and sdd, those are the installation-stick and a data-stick I used to run the bootinfo-script. It's a laptop with a small SSD (sdb) and a HD (sda). / is on the SSD. /home is on the HD. The PC should boot from sdb1. It seems not possible to tell the BIOS which drive to boot first. The boot-mode is legacy (other options : EUFI with or without CSM). Is it possible I should wipe the MBR of sda ? Grub2-rescue says it can't find disk 0e89e408-341d-41d6-b6c5-d6653e270240. That disk is referenced in the MBR of sda. So, what can I do next ? [opensuse] pulseaudio recording volume

Hello: I would like to record sound from a stream. I use pulseaudio's pacat with pavucontrol. When I change to recording tab in pavucontrol it shows the volume meter and the source I record from: pacat: pacat from Monitor of Internal Audio Analog Stereo. Sound recording works but I can't change the output volume for recording. Even if I move the slider to the left or right in the recording tab the volume is not changed, the volume meter shows the same amplitudes. How can I change the output volume for recording? [opensuse] What can be done with raw (.NEF) photographs?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I got a new camera as a present, a Nikon D3200. Nice :-) I was, I think, an experienced amateur photographer, using film. I developed them, in B/W. Colour I didn't have the setup, complex and expensive. When digital photography came, I considered it low quality compared to what could be acchieved with chemical photography, as high resolution cameras were really expensive. Eventually I stopped doing photographs, as chemical photography about disapeared. I only got a 12Mpixel pocket camera about 2010, a Samsung. I'm happy with it. So now I have a fairly decent camera, 24 Mpixels and reasonably good optics (reviewers say it is an entry level camera, though). Linux recognizes my camera out of the box. I have it set to store both raw and jpeg files for each photos. I notice that shotwell prefers to display .NEF photos, and sometimes creates jpeg files from them. I think it calls the process "developing". It can be done by the camera or by shotwell. You see, what I need to learn first is what can be done with raw (.NEF) photos, concepts, and what software is appropriate in Linux. Seems all right to me. The problem is that KGPG shows some kind of fingerprint, maybe the fingerprint of a subkey like you wrote. But I need fingerprints to verify the correct transmission of public keys. [opensuse] About NetworkManager

I'm just wondering if I'm alone in this. NetworkManager just bugs out a lot. For example, just now when this laptop came out of standby, obviously (perhaps) the wifi had been lost. But it wouldn't reconnect. It just failed. It only worked after I did: service NetworkManager restart. Then it connected automatically. Sometimes when I close my VPN (configured via NM) it won't start up again. I have to go to a shell and run it manually and I don't know why, but NM will just immediately 'return' after clicking my VPN connection's "connect". Perhaps that can be fixed with "service NetworkManager restart" also. The way my system is set up there should really be no flaws. The wifi creates an SSH tunnel, when the wifi goes down the tunnel is killed. The tunnel is there for the VPN, which I create manually from the NM-applet in KDE. When the VPN goes down the tunnel is not closed, it doesn't need to. If the tunnel closes unexpectedly I'm in a bit more trouble, I have to first check whether the tunnel is still live (I do it with tunnel status) and after that I might need to check the connection to the tunnel host, I haven't automated that yet. But closing and reopening wifi also does this. NetworkManager interferes with VPNs it does not set up itself, but it is no great interference, I just cannot delete the default route of the default wifi connection. Troublesome, but no deal breaker at this point because the new openvpn route supersedes it. Troublesome though that NM think it's so important. Anyone else experience these issues? I have had before in another KDE distro as well. I was trying to create my own "NM" suite with scripts but obviously I don't know enough about KDE to create my own applet. And it requires a lot of work to get any sort of roaming support (logging onto different networks). It just seems NM's internal state often goes corrupt.
