[opensuse] network manager only connects after 2nd or 3rd attempt

Hello, on my laptop with OS 13.2, after booting the network manager shows that it is connected to my wifi, but there is no connection to the internet, i can't even get to the router (192.168...) Then I click on disconnect and then on connect again and it usually works. Sometimes I need a third or a fourth attempt. It looks to me that if "connecting" takes a longer time, then the connection does not work, although shown as connected, and when it goes fast, it works... It does not depend on the distance to the antenna. What could be the reason for this? [opensuse] Install problem

Last weeks I have problems with installing the last 4 Tumbleweed and 13.2. All trials end, after the KDE logo appears, in diagonal green and white bars and a totally bloccade. [opensuse] SD card error

Hello, I use quite often SD card for video recording. I have problems with card flow rate measuring, because video is sometime very demanding, so I try to verify the card before use. however, cards are chepaer nowadays, but the quality is variable. problem is that some tools works and give data, others do not work, and specialy rsync!! normally rsync gives at the end of the work a summary with the flow rte (often refered as "speed") the target file system is fAT32 (no choice) the card si test here failed on real record in a 5DMKIII, probably because the flow rate of the device (around 32Mb/s) was too high. but look at these results: http://susepaste.org/27536079 rsync gives an error after some time, but f3write do not and I have similar results for some days, now, sometimes error, sometimes not NB: f3write is a specialized tool to verufy SD cards, similar to the windows tool h2testw any idea? thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse] grep needs to be updated to 2.21

I was using grep to scan names of files in RPM's. Some of the names are in latin1 instead of UTF-8, and the version of grep installed with 13.2 (2.20), gives messages like this: *** file = libvtkUtilitiesPythonInitializer-pv4.2.so.1 grep: invalid UTF-8 byte sequence in input ----- *** file = libvtkPVClientServerCoreCore-pv4.2.so.1 grep: invalid UTF-8 byte sequence in input ----- the 'file' part is my script -- name of the file I am looking for, but grep aborts because of the invalid UTF-8 bytes in the "rpm -ql" output of some package or another. I D/L their current version (2.21) and verified it is fixed; output comes up now, like: *** file = libvtkUtilitiesPythonInitializer-pv4.2.so.1 /home/rpms/13.2/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/paraview-4.2.0-1.2.x86_64.rpm:/usr/lib64/paraview/libvtkUtilitiesPythonInitializer-pv4.2.so.1 /home/rpms/13.2/repo/oss/x64+noarch/paraview-4.2.0-1.2.x86_64.rpm:/usr/lib64/paraview/libvtkUtilitiesPythonInitializer-pv4.2.so.1 ----- *** file = libvtkPVClientServerCoreCore-pv4.2.so.1 /home/rpms/13.2/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/paraview-4.2.0-1.2.x86_64.rpm:/usr/lib64/paraview/libvtkPVClientServerCoreCore-pv4.2.so.1 /home/rpms/13.2/repo/oss/x64+noarch/paraview-4.2.0-1.2.x86_64.rpm:/usr/lib64/paraview/libvtkPVClientServerCoreCore-pv4.2.so.1 I have dumped the names of all the files of all the rpms in 13.2, so if something is "looking" for one of those files, I can scan the distribution for the file. The bug only appears if you use the "-P" option of grep -- which I used.
