[opensuse] 13.1: HTTP POST failing since latest apache2 update

Hi, I am running apache2 on an openSUSE 13.1 box. Since the latest update (apache2-2.4.6-6.50.1), POST fails with error 500. More precisely, every POST bigger than 8kB (header + data) fails, while the smaller ones work as expected. The update includes a patch about header parsing: # PATCH-FIX-UPSTREAM bnc#938728 kstreitova(a)suse.com -- fix CVE-2015-3183 - chunk header parsing defect Patch128: httpd-2.4.6-chunk_header_parsing_defect.patch I branched the package and commented it out for a test: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:benoit_monin:branches:openSUSE… Doing this fixes the problem. I received a notification about updates available and try to proceed with the updates. However, the updates fail with error messages: There was a (possibly temporary) problem connecting to a software origins. Please check the detailed error for further details. [opensuse] How to disable nouveau-drm on Leap 42.1?

I am one of those "lucky" who has Optimus laptop. Though I never use optimus, I specifically blacklist nouveau and install bbswitch only to make it forever off. I bought that laptop for amazing screen and extendable RAM, and intel video is more than enough for me. But since installing Leap 42.1 Beta, I see errors from nouveau DRM, so looks like some other part of nouveau is still in my system and still gets loaded, even if fails to work. [opensuse] How is there constantly always something to be set with file permissions no matter how new or clean Suse is?

For years I am wondering about all the logmessages e.g. during package updates. On a clean Opensuse 13.2 64bit machine, which has never had anything before, in fact clean hard disks, the todays or recent cron update shows the following: Additional rpm output: setting /usr/bin/crontab to root:trusted 4755. (wrong permissions 4750) Updating /etc/sysconfig/cron... How is this linux or related unix world actually considered to be stable or paradigms and somet truth cast in stone, if seemingly every day essentials and utmost basic stuff changes. Have the package maintainers made errors in the past, or some unix gods now discovered that those file permissions ought to be 4755 instead of 4750? Has some rocket science of unix land discovered something new that these file permissions had to change? I try to understand these things but something is really beyond my level. Either unix land is still at its very infancy and imature or on the other hand package maintainers or developers are very careless to set wrong filepermissions (and many other things) all the time, that consecutive newly released and applied patches then fix. Seriously. Please explain. I would like to understand the minds and the workings of unix and linux. Maybe windows land isnt that messed up and braindamaged and evil after all. Maybe quality is pretty close to each other and same same but different. [opensuse] root partition not being mounted rw

We have a number of new HP workstations on which I have done a new installation of openSUSE 13.2. The installations all seemed to have gone normally and the systems all ran fine for a day or so. But then the root partition was remounted read-only on several of them. Normally, one expects this if one is having disk errors, but I booted from an installation disk and ran fsck and the partition came back as clean. I rebooted the box and the root partition was again mounted read-only (or at least NOT remounted read-write). If I boot in recovery mode, I can manually remount the root partition read-write and manually bring up the network and everything seems to run normally. But if I do a clean shutdown and reboot, the root partition is again not mounted read-write. In the short run, I have a really ugly work-around of putting the commands to remount the root partition read-write and ifup the network in /etc/init.d/after.local, but I really don't like that and I don't understand why the root partition is not being properly mounted even though there do not seem to be any disk errors. Hi all, Anyone around who succeeded in getting the kobil midentity reachable under SuSE? I got a kobil midentity XXL, an USB-thumb-drive. doing encryption with an sim-sized smartcard. [opensuse] 32bit apps on OS 13.2 64bit responses with Bad system call

I did my best to recover the lost data by re-installing most of the packages, including aaa-base, aaa_base-extras, kernel etc., because a sufficient backup of this two dirs was not available :(. Since the hdd crash I notified that 32bit apps response with Bad system call, even if they were updated or re-installed. See the example of acroread below. What can I do else to solve this behaviour, apart from a completely fresh install?
