[opensuse] php upload procduces garbage on opensuse 13.1

Hello List! I've a strange problem on my opensuse 13.1 Box i cant figure out: php uploads are no longer working. This includes all php apps with upload-capability. My configuration: apache2 2.4.6-6.50.1, php5-5.4.20-67.1 For the simple test script ----------------------------- <?php echo 'file count=', count($_FILES),"\n"; var_dump($_FILES); echo "\n"; ?> --------------------------- (of course fed by a corresponding html-form with type multipart/form-data, UTF-8) i get the follwoing output in the browser: file count=0 array(0) { } £[V»„2ùNQ=iÅB2•Og(ÓŒä¹Oólÿˆt?à (..garbage continues) while i would expect something like this: file count=1 array(1) { ["uploadedfile"]=> array(5) { ["name"]=> string(12) "DSC_0008.JPG" ["type"]=> string(10) "image/jpeg" ["tmp_name"]=> string(14) "/tmp/php69GIlo" ["error"]=> int(0) ["size"]=> int(2574982) } } (this output comes from a similar box already updated to OS 13.2) The php.ini upload section is the same on both machines. enable_post_data_reading is on always_populate_raw_post_data is off Please tell if you need more information. Sorta retarded that network relies on dbus which I've never been able to get to work over a network (i.e. desktop logging into suse machine that expects to use 'dbus' to talk to foreign (over network) dbus. Nice step backward. If a network is going to require dbus to work, might be nice to make sure dbus over a network works first... *sigh* Interesting article: http://darkmatters.norsecorp.com/2015/09/30/cellular-damage/ referring to 'cell phones', but pertinent to any self-updating software that increases the threat surface. Seems like having networking rely on 'dbus', is opening another layer of threat surface. Problem with PC-(linux+MS) SW devel today, is it's all about decreasing user control over their own devices and giving control to outsiders -- which creates new vectors that can also, often, be used for security breaches (even MS's update-channel has been used as an intrusion vector). Aren't the boundaries between dbus and kdbus in constant flux? [opensuse] 13.1: HTTP POST failing since latest apache2 update

Hi, I am running apache2 on an openSUSE 13.1 box. Since the latest update (apache2-2.4.6-6.50.1), POST fails with error 500. More precisely, every POST bigger than 8kB (header + data) fails, while the smaller ones work as expected. The update includes a patch about header parsing: # PATCH-FIX-UPSTREAM bnc#938728 kstreitova(a)suse.com -- fix CVE-2015-3183 - chunk header parsing defect Patch128: httpd-2.4.6-chunk_header_parsing_defect.patch I branched the package and commented it out for a test: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:benoit_monin:branches:openSUSE… Doing this fixes the problem. However, the updates fail with error messages: There was a (possibly temporary) problem connecting to a software origins. Please check the detailed error for further details. [opensuse] How to disable nouveau-drm on Leap 42.1?

I am one of those "lucky" who has Optimus laptop. Though I never use optimus, I specifically blacklist nouveau and install bbswitch only to make it forever off. I bought that laptop for amazing screen and extendable RAM, and intel video is more than enough for me. But since installing Leap 42.1 Beta, I see errors from nouveau DRM, so looks like some other part of nouveau is still in my system and still gets loaded, even if fails to work. [opensuse] How is there constantly always something to be set with file permissions no matter how new or clean Suse is?

For years I am wondering about all the logmessages e.g. during package updates. On a clean Opensuse 13.2 64bit machine, which has never had anything before, in fact clean hard disks, the todays or recent cron update shows the following: Additional rpm output: setting /usr/bin/crontab to root:trusted 4755. (wrong permissions 4750) Updating /etc/sysconfig/cron... How is this linux or related unix world actually considered to be stable or paradigms and somet truth cast in stone, if seemingly every day essentials and utmost basic stuff changes. Have the package maintainers made errors in the past, or some unix gods now discovered that those file permissions ought to be 4755 instead of 4750? Has some rocket science of unix land discovered something new that these file permissions had to change? I try to understand these things but something is really beyond my level. Either unix land is still at its very infancy and imature or on the other hand package maintainers or developers are very careless to set wrong filepermissions (and many other things) all the time, that consecutive newly released and applied patches then fix. Seriously. Please explain. I would like to understand the minds and the workings of unix and linux. Maybe windows land isnt that messed up and braindamaged and evil after all. Maybe quality is pretty close to each other and same same but different.
