[opensuse] download.virtualbox.org has 12.3 rpms. Will those work on 13.1?

All, I need usb support for virtualbox vm. I have generally always downloaded the rpm from virtualbox along with the extension pack. Currently, the download site only has 11.4 and 12.3 rpms. Will the 12.3 rpm work in 13.1? If not, does the download.opensuse.org package for 13.1 have usb available. Thanks. -- David C. After a recent power failure (several, actually, each lasting only 5-15 seconds), the kernel entry (3.7.10-1.36.1) will not boot, returning: Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format. Failsafe using the same kernel boots without problems. Grub options for the regular kernel are: resume=/dev/disk/by-id/raid-pdc_djiegecc-part6 splash=silent quiet showopts Suggestions? [opensuse] I can not delete some files and directories.

It has an external hard disk via usb, formatted as ext2 (2, not 3 nor 4). It runs kernel 2.4.21-xfs, and BusyBox v1.01 (2006.11.30-16:43+0000). As the disk is connected via usb, I can, when not in use, connect it to my openSUSE machine. I use that sometimes for maintenance of the disk. Other times, I use the fsck facility on the machine itself. After one of these runs, I found some files on the lost+found directory; I copied them to my openSUSE machine via ftp, for later inspection, then attempted to delete them on the machine. FTP (with 'mc') deleted most, but not all. [opensuse] Disks not starting...

Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem with the newer 3.11.10-11 and 3.11.10-17 kernels. When I try to boot to either kernel, for some reason my disk partitions are not starting. I get a message indicating that there's a start job running for my disk partitions (I have two partitions, /boot and /), which eventually times out and the boot fails. When I boot using the 3.11.10-7 kernel, everything starts with no problems. I am using LVM, both partitions are on the same physical disk. Not sure what additional information would help debug the problem. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated! I've tried fsk'ing the partitions, but that seems to have no effect. [opensuse] duplicating current drive to new drive via usb and dd?

All, I have had a few bad blocks show up on my laptop hard-drive. I have a new drive (larger) and I would like to duplicate/clone my entire drive by attaching the new drive to the laptop through the usb port, booting from the openSuSE install disk and then using dd to clone the old drive to new. Having never attempted a clone-by-usb, I don't even know if that is possible with the software on the install CD. So before spending a couple of hours to find out it won't work, I'll ask the brain-trust: (1) Does the install CD provide sufficient USB connection capability to attach a second drive by USB and make the device available to receive the contents of the original using dd? (2) presuming I can get the usb drive up as /dev/sdb (or wherever it end up), can anyone suggest any further optimizations for the dd clone beyond: dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=4096 conv=notrunc,noerror,sync -- David C. [opensuse] Searching OBS Crashes Server ???

All, Searching OBS for a keepassx that will work I entered my search term 'keepassx' and hit search, and WHAM! The obs search crashed with the following: 500: Internal Server Error Oooops, something went terribly wrong, our application crashed :-( We think it's best if you search if this issue is already reported on github. All, I am curious is there a /etc/init.d/boot.xzy file that can be created (or options added to) or an option somewhere in /etc/sysconfig that can be used to set options for fsck.ext3 for run on next boot when using /forcefsck or shutdown -Fr ? -- David C. I've run 'purge-kernels' and it hasn't cleaned them out. [opensuse] no connection to router after boot

Hello, since quite a while (some months) I have no connection to the router after boot. After the boot and login, I must switch off and on the router, establishing a new adsl-connection, and then the system connects. I have no idea where I could search for the reasons, where to look up hints or logs, what data I should mention here, where to "screw" to solve the problem... Opensuse 12.3 KDE 4.10.5 network setup "traditional" with ifup connected by cable from eth0 to adsl-router Once, after boot, I tried to switch to network-manager, but it tells me that no cable is connected, so I switched back to "traditional". Earlier, somebody said, I'd have to disconnect the router from all cables incl. phone line and power, and leave it a while. I first thought that it helped, but in fact it did not... Anybody had similar problems and found a solution? Thanks for your help!
