[opensuse] how to protect from govt monitoring and anti p2p with opensuse?

As we all know, there are plenty of legitimate uses of torrent files that don't involve piracy. I downloaded my opensuse distribution using ktorrent. I have been reading about how to protect from having one's own computer logged with one of the anti-p2p groups and government monitoring. Whether or not one is downloading legitimate or copyrighted material, none of us like to be monitored. In a google search, the protection software and services out there that I could find are for windows or mac based computers, except BT Guard, which is a pay service. So I am wondering, what are opensuse users using to protect themselves from government monitoring and having their ip addresses logged? Is there another service like BT Guard which is not a pay service? What about a utility that blocks IP addresses from known anti-p2p groups, like peer guardian? -- G.O. [opensuse] html5 problem

Hello, I have a curious problem. I try to make an html5 page work with video if I try the very same index and video file on my local computer, the video runs. On the server it don't http://dodin.org/uploads/ source is below the video file is test2.ogv. I have a lot of video codecs installed idea? [opensuse] Upgrading the BIOS

Yesterday I picked up from the store all the bits from which to create a new magical computer - which I will be so doing in the next 12 hours or so. There is an upgrade available to the BIOS on the motherboard - which the installation instructions suggest be done. However, the darn upgrade file is an *.exe file. I have "unarched" this file and it contains a *bat, an *exe and the actual BIOS upgrade file. I have never applied a BIOS upgrade while using Linux, and the last time I did apply a BIOS upgrade was some 9 years ago under XP. The question therefore is: how do I apply this BIOS upgrade when I install openSUSE (12.1)? Thanks for any hints/comments. [opensuse] API mismatch for NVIDIA driver and kernel module

After some software updating I've suddenly get the following error message with I open motv. Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 290.10, but this NVIDIA driver component has version 295.40. Please make sure that the kernel module and All NVIDIA driver components have the same version. Can anyone help me resolve the problem. I'm not sure what to do. [opensuse] VirtualBox

All right, I admit it: I cannot read manuals and always understand what they contain. Show me how something is done and I know what to do and how to solve a problem. But read a manual...... :-( . I have a simple question about VirtualBox to which I cannot find a straight answer. The question is: do I need to create a new, separate, VirtualBox for every operating system I want to run (under openSUSE 12.1) or do I only install the one VB which will then have separate "boxes" within it for the various OSs? For example, I want to be able to try out Milestone #4 of 12.2 but would like to try out some other distros just to see what they are about. Do I create a separate VB for each of these? Now, suppose I also decide to install the old copy of Windows XP as one of the OSs. Another VB for this because XP is noway even remotely close to a Linux OS? Someone please put me out of misery :-) . Anyone? [opensuse] KMail in mailing list subscriptions

Before writing the previous message, I had to subscribe. When I clicked on 'subscribe' I got a message about converting KMail emails. I use TBird, so I skipped it. Then I got a message: KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection. This has never happened before. What's up? [opensuse] Skip the update of a specific version of a package

Hello, Is there a way to "skip" a particular version of an update indefinitely until a new version of the package comes out, so that it isn't offered to me in Apper constantly? Version 11.2.202.235 of flash-player turned out to be very unstable with my setup so i reverted to the previous version, and locked the flash-player and flash-player-kde4 packages. I find it very annoying that this update is still listed in Apper every time even though i exclude it when applying updates. With the way this is working the last few days it completely defeats the purpose of the "updates available" icon notification, as I have to check every time if it's really something I'm not already aware of. Windows 7 update manager does this pretty well I think. You right click the item and opt to not be offered that specific patch anymore (don't remember how it's called specifically).
