[SLE] RealPlayer G2 on SuSe 6.2

Yesterday, I finally got sound going on my Linux setup. I downloaded RealPlayer G2 and it worked beautifully. Today, RealPlayer run but no sound coming out. All other sound functions still work. I can still play my CD, have system sound BUT no sound when I run RealPlayer. /var/log/message said kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error? but KDE sound still work. I have re-installed RealPlayer 3 times now, still no sound when I run the RealPlayer. Any help is appreciated. Adding fonts?

Hi all, Reading some mails on the GIMP mail list, I ran across the procedure to install some more fonts for not only Gimp, but the system and StarOffice to use also. Well, I installed the fonts, went to the shell and issued the command xset fp+ <font directory> and then the rehash command and all fonts are there! Ok, that went well, but each time I restart the system, I have to do it all over again? Hi, I am trying to set up a simple repo, I read on the opensuse site about a binary called genIS_PLAINcache, because I can't see to find it or the package yast2-packmanager either. Can someone help. [opensuse] DenyHosts daemon mode on openSUSE 11.3

Hi, I am trying to run DenyHosts on OS 11.3. I can get it to sync and update the hosts.deny file, but with "rcdenyhosts status" it reports as being "unused" just after I started it with "rcdenyhosts start". I tried also with yast, setting up as a service (daemon) and starting it. It also stops immediately. In the denyhosts.log file there is no error info, just what it used to set it up at start. I've gone through the configs several times, no joy. [opensuse] Android print solution?

Guys, With the iphone we were able to configure good print function via CUPS/Avahi, is there anything similar that can be done with an Android tablet? Looking, it doesn't appear that there is any basic print capability provided by Android (3.2 Honeycomb). I would like to print to by openSuSE server in the same manner I do from iOS. Anybody found a good solution? I have found PrintBot, but that isn't a solution because it cannot be used legally where confidentiality is required. (data is transferred to a 3rd party server before printing). I need to find a direct print solution. What says the braintrust? -- David C. I am still testing my new machine. First I had problems with the fake raid of my AsrockZ68 Extreme4 Gen3: OpenSuSE 11.4 was not able to handle this in RAID1 mode. I switched to OpenSuSE 11.3 which worked. But I still wanted a new version of SuSE so I tried 12.1 a few days ago. There was a huge problem with Systemd and RAID mechanism which gave me the impression that this part is far too immature to be used. This view of mine is confirmed by the many problems of systemd that can be read on the internet. I switched back to SysV initialization instead of Systemd. SysV works now. But both initialization methods show an error: "<3>[ 4.722529] hub 1-1:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 1 disabled" This was not shown when booting SuSE 11.3 so I wonder why SuSE 12.1 fills up the logfile with that message: "... And I keep getting random screens with B/W lines or just will not respond or several other errors. When I look at the F10 screen, I see messages about DRM errors and GPU hanging too fast....... 12.1 LXDE Hi I want to move a home directory from /home/lynn to /home2/lynn I used Yast to set the new directory. All is well but now I do not show up in the ldxe login screen (I have to type my username rather than click on my icon in the login list) and login takes over 3 minutes. Moving back to /home/lynn works fine. I've also tried editing /etc/passwd directly with the same results. I have emptied my .cache folder and also emptied /tmp. I'm using lxdm login manager. Permissions are corect on the new folder. Why does the new login take so long? Stortly after openSUSE 12.1 was release, I upgraded a computer that had previously been running 11.0 very well. However, since installing 12.1, I've noticed frequent, extensive disk activity, that essentially renders my computer unresponsive for several seconds. I don't have to be doing anything for this disk activity to start. Has anyone else experienced this? I am trying to allow a Windows 7 machine to access files on my main computer. Under Linux I just use NFS and all Linux boxes can see all network shares if they have an IP address to start with. No username and password monkey business. With SAMBA this seems impossible. The Windows machine user is presented with demand for a username and password that have never been created. The SAMBA shared directories are visible from the Windows 7 client but just un-accessible. Is it not possible to not require a user name and password combination? This is on openSUSE 12.1. There is nothing I can find on the openSUSE Wiki and I see no SAMBA articles when I look for articles at the openSUSE site. NFS just works SAMBA is non functional. The stuff I am seeing when I google is just confusing nonsense that isn't openSUSE specific. I have a new Android cellphone, my first. This is an HTC Aria. I want to e able to exchange files between this phone and my desktop inux box --oS v11.4 at the moment. I expected that the phone would be recognized when connected to a USB port, just like any other USB device, but it isn't. I assume there is a way to get openSuSE to detect the phone. Hi, I am curious when will Gnome 3.4 will be available for openSUSE? It's not in factory (I am running Milestone 2). Even LibreOffice 3.5 is not there yet, it's been a month of release I guess. On the contrary Ubuntu has all the latest packages. I am just curious to know about the update strategy of openSUSE. I do love to play with latest packages and write about them so just wanted to know if I am missing something or it does take time for openSUSE to update to the latest packages. As many are aware, Linus Torvalds has started a rant about the security policies in openSUSE for things that require the root password. From his Google+ post(https://plus.google.com/102150693225130002912/posts/1vyfmNCYpi5), he names these: Time Zone changes Adding a Printer Adding a wireless network. Now, I don't usually see the wireless issue because KNetworkmanager in KDE3(which I use) has never asked the root password for adding a new network. While at 37, I've never changed timezones(I lead a boring life) I would have to agree that having to use the root password for this would be annoying if I needed to change it because of a flight or something. I've worked with Linus on a hardware issue years ago, and I think we should probably at least consider reviewing the policies if they do need changed. Hello: How can I save images that are opening when I click their thumbnails in certain pages? One example: http://www.45cat.com/record/abbapromo001 the big image that opens after clicking the image in the page. Another example, probably a different type: http://elektronika.vatera.hu/navigacio_adovevo/gps/4_3_gps_mp3_mp4_full_eu_… Clicking the GPS image on the right opens a bigger image in the midle. 12.1 Hi I've lost the graphical boot screen. The first one that appears after you switch on. It's the one with the menu where you can choose other systems to mulit boot if you have them installed. I had normal or Failsafe to choose from. Now all I get is an ugly text screen which says grub version 0.97 and the same two options but in text mode. How can I get the nice screen back?
