[opensuse] KDE super boot manager, or plymouth manager, only on ubuntu?

Hi, In my search to get rid of the giant chameleon icon i found only plymouth managers for Ubuntu. Is there no one inside opensuse that knows which script influences these screens? As workaround untill opensuse has a plymouth manager of her own. http://www.ubuntugeek.com/plymouth-manager-gui-tool-to-change-boot-theme-an… http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/?content=142592 I think the user, and how he/she wants to have his/her desktop look, has to be more important to the devs, in order to attract and keep users. Giving the user the idea to be able to change something he/she thinks is important to him/her without fuss, might have more impact on the use of opensuse as favorite desktop, as devs might think. [opensuse] supposed correct setup of ADSL/PPPoE network in opensuse

Hello: What is the method to setup a ADSL/PPPoE network correctly in openSUSE? The connection is made through an ADSL bridge, making the connection requires authentication (username and password). The provider offers IP address dynamically but does not use DHCP server. I could not find a description what is the proper way to configure such a connection. If I choose DHCP method the connection is made, but messages log is full of "No DHCPOFFERS received" messages. I have openSUSE 11.2 and 12.1 systems. [opensuse] Problem facing for webcam in suse linux 12.2

Hi, I have Samsung NP300E5Z-A0PIN Laptop(i5,4gb Ram) and it's built in webcam is not working. I installed Suse 12.2 linux. When i start below application my system got hang and stop responding. 1-Gtalk (video) 2-facebook video chat 3-Cheese application not responding after opening 4-Webcam related all task are creating problem for me. [opensuse] qt file selector window size question

Hello: It is possible to change the default size of qt file selector window? It is very small and every time when I open or search for a file in it I have to resize the window. I would like to make bigger the default size but I could not find option for it in qtconfig. Thank you in advance. [opensuse] LOgin 12.2/KDE - part of password skipped on first attempt

Just wondering if others have also noticed - when logging in on a 12.2+KDE system that has just been booted up, unless I type v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y , the first attempt always skips a few characters and fails. [opensuse] Manual Xorg configuration help on 12.2

I am trying to use an LG TV as my monitor in an HTC env. The PC used is an Intel based PC with DVI, HDMI, and some other video port I'm not familiar with. In any case, this particular TV is NOT providing its EDID information to the PC. At least that is what the kernel people are telling me. I have obtained the EDID information from the service manual and have a binary blob that contains it. Can some one point me as to how to provide this information to Xorg via the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d directory so I can force X to use it? It looks like I need to modify the 50-monitor.conf, 50-screen.conf, and maybe 50-device.conf files but I don't know the proper syntax for adding this info to these empty files. Is X still manually configurable using these files? I know about the kernels drm_kms_helper module but it is borked with this particular hardware. Hi, In my struggle to get rid of the children drawings during boot-time of my eee pc, in oS 12.2, i consulted the man:plymouth, and found that the commands given there are incorrect: '-l' should list the available themes, but started a help file. --get-splash-plug-in-path gives /usr/lib/Plymouth, the location where the themes should be stored. I became not much wiser, because there is nothing useful there... I think at least that it might be considered strange, that openSUSE users can not use the applications to change the environment to their likings, because they do not work. Very simple things, as changing the background during boot-time, becomes a nightmare, that takes days, only to find out that the apps to do it, aren't there, or don't work. You end up changing scripts that influence nothing, and you wonder why they are there in the first place. I installed Grub2 editor, and succeeded to replace the ugly green screen; with SUSE-Elegant, a major improvement, but i miss the graphical interface to change the font size. So it will take a lot of time to see the results and adjust them to a nicer, fitting composition. The screen where you actually boot into the desktop is easy to change, (the way all of this should be able to), which i did, also with SUSE-Elegant. Now only still an ugly login screen, (KDM3, which cannot be changed, only for the worst, even from Yast, and this while KDM4 already is available longtime.) and one splash-screen, controlled by Plymouth remain.... the moving lights are not that bad, but the childishly drawn chameleon is really to ugly to look at. ( the size of an icon would be better) If only the color could be changed, to black, or something, than it could be better fitting... ..that ugly green color, even the progress bars in yast are poisoned with it.... Why on earth can't this be changed? Normally when changing a style, one can choose the colors or the progress bar, but this is fixed.. I plead for more flexibility in user make-able changes. The way KDE works originally, the user can adjust the whole look and feel of 'his/her' desktop environment. Why openSUSE wants to control what the user should look at, or should feel? [opensuse] Huawei modem-software/drivers, integrated in kernel-firmware modules?

Hi, I have a Huawei E173 3G Modem, which is a Hotplug USB device. If the device shows up in NM, is it correct to assume that all drivers are installed? How can i test if the device is trying to connect a service? The only thing i can see is that it does not get an ip-address, and so not connected. There is no dialog, or error message that shows what is going, or not going on. This is at least confusing when one has not ever used the device in a linux environment. Usually an application shows a connection dialog, to show that it is actually doing something, but here i fail to understand what is happening. There is a change in the systemtray, the icon changes to another one and there is little progress bar, and then a red 'no parking' sign. Showing there is no connection. With my Wi-fi, if my connection is alright, a v-mark on green background shows shortly, and the connection is established. But i want to know *why* there is no connection, and *how* to solve it. Does anyone know if additional driver-software has to be installed? And if so, where to get it? Or, maybe there is a manual available somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated.
