[opensuse] Thunderbird: Everything is 'fraft'

I had a power-out crash (don't ask) and when the machine came back up after plugging the power cord in again and locking the cat out I find Thunderbird misbehaving. It is as if its lost a lot of context. Oh, all the account settings were there but all 'history' had been lost, the counts on the folders, and the "moveto -> recent" history. What's weird and what I can't seem to refine a google query to find is this: 1. Every message in every folder is now a 'draft" as in it says "This is a draft message" and shows an edit button. EVERY message in EVERY folder, not just the ones in the draft folder. Its as if every folder has been marked 'draft' 2. When I do move stuff from inbox to another folder (or 'possible junk' to false-positive or false-negative) the destination folder should be added to the 'recent' history. It isn't, that remains empty. I've not met this problem before and it hasn't happened before this morning's cat-and-the-cable incident. If anyone has any ideas about this I'd be grateful. "Scalability" is not going to be relevant if you don't have big FS or a FS that is being loaded up large (e.g. video) files. There are many parts of the Linux (and for that matter many other OSs) file hierarchy that do not need large files. A FS like Reiser or BtrFS that can fit smaller files in one allocation block so as to eliminate 'wasted space' may be more appealing in some situations. And lets not forget that by its very nature, some of what a FSCK has to do in going to be at least O(2), so large file systems, be it in the number of files or the number of allocation blocks, are going to be expensive in time and possibly memory for a FSCK. And then there's the issue of backups ... [opensuse] nfsv4 kerberos problem

Hi I've setup an nfs4 server in Yast. I enabled gss security, created an nfs principal and extracted it to /etc/krb5.keytab. That seems OK because without the keytab, the nfsserver would not start. Yast has created this: cat /etc/exports /home *(fsid=0,crossmnt,rw,root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check) mount -t /server:/ /mnt works fine, but makes no mention of Kerberos. I've tried /home gss/krb5(fsid=0,crossmnt,rw,root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check) and /home *(fsid=0,crossmnt,rw,root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check,sec=krb5) both of which give: mount.nfs4: access denied by server while mounting server:/ as does mount -t nfs4 server:/ /mnt -o sec=krb5 The server starts OK: Jan 27 22:45:07 hh3 nfsserver[7449]: Starting kernel based NFS server: svcgssd idmapd mountd statd nfsd sm-notify..done Kerberos is working OK elsewhere but what am I missing for the nfs service? What is the method to mount correctly kerberized? is what I've done enough? Hi everyone, Ever since I installed opensuse 12.1, my system from time to time just locks up. I cannot hit ctrl-alt-backspace twice to get out of X because the keyboard is unresponsive. Ctrl-alt-delete does not work either. The only thing that responds is the mouse, and only to movement, not to clicks on anything. The screen freezes and nothing moves. This last time it happened today I had thunderbird open and was doing some emails, as well as dolphin so that I could look at some files. I was not doing anything extraordinary. I might have had firefox open also for something - I can't remember for sure. There does not seem to be any consistency in what I am doing when it locks up. It happened twice today, so this last time I made a note of the time that it locked up, and I have copied the previous 20 minutes of log entries from /var/log/messages here below. Any help to try and get this problem fixed would be appreciated! Oh also, I am running on systemd and not sysvinit. I don't know if that would have any bearing on the problem, but I am open to suggestions. Here are the log entries. The crash happened at 12:39 on the clock in my system tray. [opensuse] sticky dolphin

Hello, I often notice that My Dolphin become sticky, that is is visible in all the desktops. easily seen right clicking on the top of the window and seen "to desktop" and "all" is ticked. as it's not always the case, I wonder if there is a hotkey I could have hit inadvertently? [opensuse] Problem opening Firefox

Hi everyone; Tonight Firefox (9.0.1) under OS 12.1 won't open. A message is displayed that states "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible:. Sure enough, .mozilla is missing in /home/tom. Don't remember doing anything with it but may be due to two windstorms within the last few days. This happens from panel icon, favorites icon, or cli. It's my understanding that if the profile is deleted a new one is created when firefox is run again. That doesn't happen here. It just keeps showing the error message and when OK is clicked the message box disappears but the program doesn't appear. Thought of restoring from the backup drive but that got fried during the storms when there was a large power surge. The computer was on a good surge protector (APC) but not the backup drive SIGH!) I also tried completely removing Firefox through Yast2 and then re-installing but the problem is still the same. Obviously I could use another web browser but I prefer to stay with FF for now. [opensuse] SSD & fstrim: ioctl failed, why?

Hi, On my laptop, I've got an SSD disk with three ext4 partitions. For two of them, I can call fstrim without any problems. The third responds with: pixel:~ # fstrim -v /boot fstrim: /boot: FITRIM ioctl failed: Invalid argument /boot is a proper filesystem on the respective disk: pixel:~ # grep /dev/sda /proc/mounts /dev/sda2 / ext4 rw,noatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=writeback 0 0 /dev/sda1 /boot ext4 rw,noatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=writeback 0 0 /dev/sda5 /data ext4 rw,noatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0 Googling that error message and fstrim didn't bring any results beyond the actual source. Does anybody here has experience with such an error message and could point me to more information? [opensuse] Grsync Missing in openSUSE

Hi, I wanted a GUI for rsynce so I tried to install Grsync (which I used on Ubuntu) but I can't find it in openSUSE repos. Is there any other GUI for rsync or is there any way to install Grsync. [opensuse] Compiling on 12.1 but running on 11.4

Hi, I have a piece of software that I would like to compile on opensuse 12.1 but run on older machines with opensuse 11.4. If I do so I get: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by ./prog) The problem is that the program uses memcpy and this is linked against: U memcpy@@GLIBC_2.14 How can I achieve that my program runs on opensuse 11.4?
