[opensuse] enigmail fails since pinentry does not fire up

Hi there! Since yesterday evening, enigmail stopped working. (I removed my KDE DE just before that and installed newer boost libs but I don't see how could affect my problem). For some reasons the pinentry-gtk-2 does not fire up anymore (still installed). So the symptoms are that thunderbird seems to do nothing after pressing "Send" and then after a while I get the message: Send operation aborted. Key 0xDBABD766 not found or not valid. The (sub-)key might have expired. gpg command line and output: /usr/bin/gpg2 gpg: problem with the agent: Timeout gpg: skipped "0xDBABD766": Operation cancelled gpg: [stdin]: clearsign failed: Operation cancelled I pasted the output of the error console at http://susepaste.org/54964472 Any pointer for how to debug why pinentry-gtk-2 is not showing up anymore would be really great! [opensuse] multiple fixed dhcp addresses

Hi, Im trying to give all of my hosts multiple fixed addresses, So if one host is (accidentily) repluged from one lan to another lan, i will still get predictable results. Avvording to the dhcpd.conf info that should be possible: "If it is desirable to be able to boot a DHCP or BOOTP client on more than one subnet with fixed addresses, more than one address may be specified in the fixed-address declaration, or more than one host statement may be specified matching the same client." So i tried at my 11.4 box multiple addresses in a single host declaration. The deaemon responds however with: dhcpd: /var/lib/dhcp//etc/dhcpd.conf line 18: Only one fixed address declaration per host. Any comment at the unexpected behaviour? [opensuse] Major boot problem

Hi all, The other day I switched on my computer in the morning and waited for the oS 11.4 to start (the other system on it is Win XP). The bootsplash screen disappearad and then lines of text were printed on the screen. After a while a prompt appeared telling me to give my root password. I typed it, but it was not accepted. Repeated the boot sequence a couple of times, but to no avail. Finally I chose Failsafe from the GRUB menu and somehow I could get some response from the system. It turned out that I was in / directory and nothing else was mounted. This morning I found the 11.4 install CD and thught I would refresh or reinstall the system. Refresh did no change, I still could not boot into the system. The fresh instaal insisted to format even the /home directory, which I really do not want. Additionaly It told me that it is not posibble to mount some volumes - there are 3 HDDs in the computer. The only thing I want to preserve is my home directory. Could anybody help me how to advance? Any reason why the Days To Go ICON for 12.1 is in: http://counter.opensuse.org/11.4/ and not: http://counter.opensuse.org/12.1/ I could sort of understand the 11.4 as well as the 12.1 one so web sites get the new date without a change. But as the image is usually accompanied by a link to Portal:1x.x, and that would need updating anyway, this is less useful. Portal:12.1 exists. Just curious. [opensuse] Automount a home directory using LDAP/Kerberos/NFS4

Hello! I'm currently trying to get the aoutomount-feature on opensuse 11.4 running. LDAP/Kerberos/NFS4 is running fine, but unfortunately I cant get the aoutomount running. Whenever automunt runs, I get the following error: "Syntax error in map near [ home -fstype=nfs4 herkules.test.com: ]" In LDAP I have set the entries below - unfortunately I can't find a good documentation. [opensuse] Gnome 3.2 - How can I completely disable Suspend?

I've downloaded and installed from the openSUSE-based Gnome 3.2 live disk. Laptop model is Dell XPS M1330 Video is NVidia GeForce 8400M GS Kernel ver is 2.6.37.6-0.7-default x86_64 1 - Nouveau driver TANKS when system goes to suspend. Comes back with black screen and mouse pointer. Must ctrl-alt-backspace to reset X-server. 2 - NVidia driver repository driver ver 275.21 driver TANKS when system goes to suspend. Desktop comes back, but is completely frozen except for the mouse pointer. Must ctrl-alt-backspace to reset X-server. 3 - NVidia's latest driver ver 280.13 causes random lock-ups. Completely unusable. As I have been perusing forums for multiple distributions, I've found that this laptop model apparently has issues with suspend. How can I completely disable suspend? [opensuse] Port multiplier problem

I recently bought a Sharkoon SATA Quickport Duo <http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/sata-quickport-duo-v2>, which is attached to an eSATA port on a SiliconImage SATA RAID card. I have used this card in the past as an attachment for JBOD SATA drives, which are then assembled into a software linux RAID1 array, but now I just want to use it to connect the above device to the mainboard. The system will only see one drive at a time. If I populate both drive bays in the Sharkoon Quickport, then neither drive is mountable. The Sharkoon information says that two HDD operation via eSATA is only possible when the eSATA controller supports Port Multiplier. The SiliconImage website says that the card, which uses their si3124 chip, supports Port Multiplier functionality. <http://www.siliconimage.com/products/product.aspx?id=27>. My kernel 2.6.37.6-0.7-desktop has the sata_sil24 module loaded. Can anyone suggest a reason why I'm not able to activate the Port Multiplier function? Am I missing something obvious? [opensuse] where can I change $PATH

Hi, I've got an application installed from OpenSuse's repository which is in $PATH. Recently I installed a newer version as binary in /opt. Now I'd like to remove the bin-directory of the older version and replace it with the newer version under /opt. I know I could add the newer bin to $PATH in /etc/bash.bashrc.local but I rather like to remove the old one. I'd like to keep the old binary at least for now so it's no solution to delete the package and let YaST clean up $PATH. [opensuse] OpenSuSE 11.4: E17: menu: YaST (Administraitor Settings) FAILS

OK now while I don't like yast's package management interface, and thus use zypper, there are times when I need yast or yast2 to do something else... Now If I understand correctly yast2 is supposed to be the gui version of yast that required X and yast is the curses equivalent that can be run in a virtual console such as tty1 without X... But while I'm glad that there is a curses equivalent, I find the gui version less confusing. Ever since kde4 proved incompatible with my brain, the only gui's I use are E17 and E16 Or under extreme duress xfce... And by default, I use E17 And if it matters I boot to runlevel 3 and use startx when/if I'm ready for a gui. Though admittedly, most of the time my first user command is startx... E17's applications menu only mentions yast once. And that is at menu->applications->System->YaST (Administrator Settings) Since there isn't a separate choice for yast2 I would tend to assume that the menu choice would actually point at the gui yast2, but I can't prove it. You see when I select yast from the menu, I get a small popup that prompts me for the password. I don't know if it's based on the sudo settings or not but since my sudoers file has "targetpw" on the defaults line it shouldn't matter because it should want root's password. Which appears to be true because if I use my own the pop-up simply exits immediately. But if I enter my root password, some text output that looks like the stdout and/or stderr I'd expect in an xterm if I call a gui application from it. But this text scrolls by so fast I can't read any of it before "Poof" the popup window closes. And yast2 doesn't start. I guess it's possible that it's trying to start the curses version of yast, but in that case it should be opening an xterm to run it in, and that doesn't happen either. I've tried starting yast2 from an "xterm" (actually a "konsole" window, {konsole being one of the few KDE apps I still use in spite of kde4}): I've done this in three ways with different results: su -c /sbin/yast2 which yields over 300 lines of stderr (see http://pastebin.com/AgwCap3W ) and no yast of any kind... sudo /sbin/yast2 which actually starts the curses version in the current konsole window... But if I open a root shell first: su - yast2 I get only about 9 lines of stderr (see http://pastebin.com/CwJtbKLS ) before the gui yast2 control center does actually open a functional window. This bothers me because I much prefer to use either: 'su -c "command arglist"' or 'sudo command arglist' to start an admin level gui than to leave an open root shell that I might forget to close hanging around. And of course because there should be a working yast menu choice in the gui menu on an OpenSuSE system, shouldn't there??? Can anybody tell me how to fix this?
