[opensuse] IPv6 DNS in OpenSUSE 11.0

I'm starting to experiment with IPv6 and need to set up DNS for IPv6. As I understand it, current bind versions support IPv6, but I'm not sure if it's enabled in 11.0. Is there anything I have to do to enable this? [opensuse] Problem with Sound

Hello List, i've got an new (for me new) PC and he is perfect. The only one thing, that don't really run is the Sound. I have the N68-S from ASRock and use the Onboard Sound. If i hear Music with Amarok, or watch a movie with vlc, and a Systemsound comes up, the Sound from Amarok or vlc is broken. If i go into Amarok and reclick the last File, i can hear it. By watching Movies, i must stop the movie restart it, and move in the timeline forward. Now i have experimented. The Problem comes if the Soundfile is ogg and by wav, too. I've runned alsa.info.sh http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=1452d284523178cdeb274f8aa3bbfb0079549ffb I'm using alsa as my Sounddaemon, and inside KDE i have Phonon with the xine Backend. Pulseaudio isn't installed. Has anyone an Idea? [opensuse] application window numbering in Gnome

Hello listmates, In KDE if I started two instances of the same application (let's say, two instances of Digikam) even with the windows grouped I would see them labeled as "Digikam 1" and "Digikam 2". Not so with Gnome. Any way to make it the same under Gnome? Thanks. [opensuse] Xlib error during NX client session

Hello list, Using NX Client for Windows to remotely access my OpenSUSE 11.2 Desktop. I get this error: Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":1009.0". [opensuse] alt+f2 run dialog

I have run into a issue(s) with alt+f2 (the run dialog) When you type stuff into alt+f2, it search(s) as you type and of course suggest links, programs etc. 2 things 1) the run dialog becomes unresponsive, as you type stuff in. If you click on a suggestion, press enter or click on the x (to close run dialog) nothing happens. After a pause it will respond 2) After typing in a command and pressing enter, the command seems to not respond, until I do a alt+f2 again, for example type in yast press enter, nothing happens. Press alt+f2 again, the dialog box for root password shows up. The issue(s) above appear to be random, I've not been able to establish a pattern when it occurs, in most cases a logout / login will fix it, in some cases only rebooting will fix it as well. This started since I updated to 11.2 with kde 4.4.x, anyone run into this and have fix / workaround ? [opensuse] Using a Vodaphone UMTS stick with Linux/openSUSE

I've got a Vodaphone UMTS USB stick, model K3565-Z that I'm trying to get working with openSUSE and KDE4. I've done some digging, and figured out how to get the USB stick correctly identified as a Broadband device. Plug it in, wait for it to be identified as a ZEROCD device. Open Dolphin and Eject the device. Then it's picked up as a GSM Modem. dmesg reports it as a ZTE CDMA Technologies MSM >From there, I've been able to set up the device in the Network Manager... but that's about as far as I get... I'm not really sure what info is required in the NetworkManager... I can enter: - Number (known if I assume this is the SIM phone number) - Username (not used) - Password (not used) - APN (known, and set to web.vodaphone.de) - Type (set to Any, but can set to 3G UTMS) - PIN (known, provided with the SIM card) - PUK (known, provided with the SIM card) I've connected it in Windows... and it works there, so the device works. [opensuse] 11.2 gadmin-openvpn custom config. problems

Hi all, Wonder why also root can't modify the server.conf file of this openvpn Gtk-Gui: whenever I attempt to execute modifications, both from interface or even directly into the conf file, by vi editor, then rebooting the gadmin-openvpn results in preserving the previous configuration. Same configuration changes unavailability is perceived also from the server.conf tab of gadmin: if you change some fields from Yes to No or vice versa, then these fields back to previous status. [opensuse] firefox won't start

Ever since updating to >= 3.0 Firefox, I get some variation of the following: rcc@Athelon:~> firefox returned PAC proxy string: direct *** nss-shared-helper: Shared database disabled (set NSS_USE_SHARED_DB to enable). ** (firefox:10537): WARNING **: AT-SPI: Accessibility bus not found - Using session bus. /usr/bin/firefox: line 128: 10537 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@" rcc@Athelon:~> Of course, this is from a command line, From the 'kicker', I just get the 'bouncing ball" with no error message, after 30 seconds, it just disappears with no firefox, no message, no nothing. To restore Firefox, I have to reinstall, 2.5.9 or earlier, then, it works again. Installing any version later than that results in failure to start. This is with 11.3 factory. uname -a Linux Athelon 2.6.34-rc5-6-default #1 SMP 2010-04-22 21:18:20 +0200 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux Updated 6 May Processor is an AMD 64 running 32bit Dual core mode 2 2G memory, LVM AND RAID 5 (4 drive x 1Tb) + 3 1Tb drives in the / and /home LVM. This all worked in 11.2 and 11.3 M4 and earlier until Firefox was updated beyond 2.5.9. Reverting Firefox causes the segfault to disappear, reinstalling the 3.+ (latest) restores the segfault. Now the squirrel...I have a virtually identical machine int the other room with similar hardware and also running factory, that works! ... but NFS won't run on it!!! The MBd is MSI but the CPU is an AMD...the MBD on this one is an ASUS. I have another one (ASUS) that I haven't upgraded yet...production machine, but another ASUS running 11.2 with no problems. So, far, I'm not sure whether it is the kernel interacting with Firefox or Firefox itself. Any Ideas? [opensuse] Scanner help

Hi, I have an Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner. It's connected via firewire. It used to work fine with older Suses using xsane. Recently I installed OS 11.2 64bit. I had to install xsane 32 bit, because the "driver" is 32bit. When I setup the scanner via yast, all seems OK. But xsane can't detect the scanner. When I do scanimage from the command-line (probably with some parameters) I do get something on the screen (a huge number of garbage-charachters) and the scanner moves it's scanning head. What can I do to get xsane working ? Thanks for any pointers.
