[opensuse] Hopefully simple printing question

All, OS 10.3 / KDE / Network Printer (HP 4500 Color Laser) My printer has somehow stalled. Everything I print goes to a queue and never pops out of the printer. I know the printer is not the problem because I have a XP VM on the same machine and I can print from there fine. How do I tell OS to start printing again. [opensuse] 32-Bit epson epkowa firmware files on 64-Bit Installation

Hi everyone, When I installed openSUSE 10.3, I could choose to install the 32 bit runtime environment. What exactly does this allow? [opensuse] Firefox 2 crash on "save link as..."

Hello list, I experience frequent crashes of firefox when I do a "right-click", "save link as...". The crash occurs before the "save as" dialog box could appear. I then restart firefox and the download will work. I can't pinpoint the time when this started occuring (long time ago), but it may be linked with my upgrading Thunderbird to version 2. To try and fix this, I re-installed both firefox and thunderbird (FF from the update repository, TB from packages found on the BuildService). Same story. [opensuse] Loginprocess anomaly

Hello everybody, Using: Suse 11.0 , KDE3.54 ,NXfree. Suse 11.0 is derived from upgraded SuSe 10.3 no KDE4 installed. Is there some documentation to read about the loginprocess ? I have strange situation. A local login gives me my old standard kde3 desktop. A remote login gives me a kde4 desktop !!! How is that possible ??? (there is only 1 remote system) Does anybody have any idea where to look ? [opensuse] I can't eradicate those **** 32bit packages from my openSuse 11

As for $Subject: it's simply not possible to eradicate all 32-bit packages from my x86_64 installation because of dependencies on glibc-32bit, due to flash and realplayer. Please guys, can you please refrain from adding those artificial dependencies? Not everybody want to have RealPlayer and Flash installed, just like me that avoid them like the plague. I wonder how much space, bandwidth and time would be saved by just moving that 32bit stuff to a separate repository. [opensuse] Seamonkey goes autistic

On OpenSuSE 10.3 on i386 laptop/platform >From a week ago or so I am seeing Seamonkey going autistic. It does not refresh the window and I get a watch-cursor rotating. I also notice that the wireless icon on the laptop is on continuously. If I kill and restart the same pages work. Does not seem to be taking any CPU. Binary have dates early June (6 or 8) Is anyone else seeing this? [opensuse] a second GNOME damage after update

I already posted a problem caused by mandatory updates, perhaps in conjunction with a specific system configuration of my computer. Now I see that the control center cannot start. Altogether I am missing two executables: - gnome-control-center and - gnome-settings-daemon Thanks to search.rpmseek.com I know that these files belong to several packages. But openSUSE 10.3 provides only one of these: control-center2. Surprisingly this package is displayed as to be not installed although gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon always worked until yesterday. I don't know of another openSUSE-package what contains these files. Unfortunately YaST rejects the installation of this package because it requires "libxklavier >= 3.5" for "libxklavier12-3.5-3.1.i586". In my understanding this should be a bug because no already installed package can be dependent from a new package and prevent it from being installed. Even if a new package requires a second version of an already installed package rpm should ensure that these two versions can coexist. Then I guessed that the rpm database is perhaps damaged and started an rpm --rebuilddb. Answer: Can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/..db.00 (even after reboot!). But other programs I have installed and removed after the error, so there cannot be a general problem wit the rpm DB! It's a nightmare. I am desperately looking for a way to install "control center2". BTW, is it possible to use rpm with rpm-files in the openSUSE repositories? Until now I used rpm only with single downloaded files. I would prefer to have access to the repositories what are also available for YaST. Need your help. Thanks.
