[opensuse] Documentation on Hotplugging in 10.3, usb-drives

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ~ Hi, I'm desperately searching for information/documentation on how the hotplugging works and is configured in OpenSuSE 10.3 The origin of my quest was, that I wanted to change the default mount options for vfat-partitions on external USB-drives (shortname=lowercase => shortname=mixed). However, all I found was a sdb-article for 9.x and the files in /etc/sysconfig/hotplug mentioned there are no longer existing. Well hotplugging works like a charm, but neither goggle, nor "find /. -iname '*hotplug*' , nor "grep -R lowercase /etc/* " brought any results which explain how. I invested several hours already searching for hints on the system and in the web !!! Where is this configuration hidden and how does it work in current OpenSUSE systems ??? [opensuse] inews posting failure with OpenSUSE 10.3

Hello, I post a few FAQ's to usenet on a monthly and quarterly basis. The interval was up last night I received email stating that they were not posted. Here is how the line used. /usr/local/bin/post_faq -config /usr/local/zenez/config/config post_faq is the posting program I have been using since 1994. This is what I see. gerberb@suse104:/usr/local/zenez/config> /usr/local/bin/post_faq -config /usr/local/zenez/config/config Posting ou8faq (posting interval expired). inews: article was posted by "root(a)zenez.com" and you are "gerberb(a)suse104.zenez.com" inews: article not posted /usr/bin/inews -h exited with non-zero status posting ou8faq. Skipping ou8faqqt (scheduled to be posted on or around Jul 29, 2008). Posting scoprogfaq (posting interval expired). inews: article was posted by "root(a)zenez.com" and you are "gerberb(a)suse104.zenez.com" inews: article not posted /usr/bin/inews -h exited with non-zero status posting scoprogfaq. Skipping scoprogfaqqt (scheduled to be posted on or around Jul 29, 2008). What I can not figure out is why it thinks that I am root posting when I am not. I also ran the command after I logged into the machine copying config.old config. and it gives me the same message. How do I stop the check or get the check to be correct? I just need to get this to post monthly. I would prefer to use my linux systems rather than the old SCO. I still maintain these FAQ for those that have to use the OS's for their applications. Any idea? Thank you for your help. I simply deleted what was in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/inbox/cur and the message disappeared. [opensuse] Yast and certificates

Hello, I'm setting up a new mailserver. For this I would like some certificates. There are modules to use Yast to manage these certificates. This seems to be easy, but for a server-certificate I need to give a password. This would be awkward because every time I would need to restart my secure services (mail, imap, stunnel, ...) I would need to type the certificate-password. Do I miss something ? Or should I just manually manage those certificates ? Running 10.3. [opensuse] RAID 1 on 11.0 RC1

Using 11.0 RC1 though this does not apply to what version i run as i believe this is a "user error" and configuring RAID 1 (software) should be the same whatever version. When installing 11.0 RC1, i set both drives up for RAID 1 with a mount point of "/" and ext3 filesystem. Everytime i reboot, after a fresh install and no updates or anything changed on the system, i would get a grub error 17 and not be presented with the boot menu. So, after 3 times of trying different configurations with RAID 1 and always getting the grub error, i set 11.0 on a single drive with a swap, / and /home partition. Now i want to configure the drives for RAID 1. You can do this in yast->partitioner, right? [opensuse] Update for uninstalled desktop?

Lately, I've been getting updater notices, about "gdm: GDM not using the whole screen area". Even if I allow it to install, it keeps coming back and I don't even use Gnome or GDM. This is on a 32 bit 10.3 system. I am not able do delete a message from Kmail inbox which I have received several months ago. This is the first time I have seen this in Kmail.
