[opensuse] Problem printing with CUPs to network printers on openSUSE 11.0 beta2

Is anyone else having issues printing to network printers (I have not tried local ones) with cups on 11.0 beta (Same problem on beta 1 and 2) I have tried defining the remote printer as a raw socket, lpd port and ipp and I get a very similar error in each case. [opensuse] Xen bridge without IP

Hi, I would like to use a second interface exclusively for the VMs (not configured on Dom0, can this be done or I need to have it up with an IP address?. Used the custom script hack to bridge two interfaces: - eth1: not configured, wont have an ip assigned - eth2: not configured, waiting the IP address to be assigned The thing is, I can't see the phisycal interface enslaved to the bridge asusis-xen1:~ # brctl show bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces xenbr0 8000.feffffffffff no vif2.0 xenbr1 8000.000000000000 no Eth0 will be used exclusively for administration tasks and for heartbeat. I just get a hand on an old radio usb device. http://www.linux-usb.org/devices.html says the driver is experimental, however dmesg shows: usb 1-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 usb 1-1: new device found, idVendor=04b4, idProduct=1002 usb 1-1: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 usb 1-1: Product: USB FM Radio usb 1-1: Manufacturer: GemTek Corp usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usbcore: registered new interface driver dsbr100 drivers/media/radio/dsbr100.c: v0.41:D-Link DSB-R100 USB FM radio driver how can I listen to this device? [opensuse] KDE utility/app to connect to Windows Terminal Services session

Hello, There was a GUI utility/app in KDE that could connect you to either a VNC session, a Terminal Services session, or a Remote Desktop session, but I can't recall what is named. [opensuse] openSUSE 10.3 with Thunderbird, ldap and nscd

Hi All, Since I moved to ldap, I begun to have problems starting Thunderbird. I got an error like: /usr/bin/thunderbird: line 134: 17959 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM $@ The only way I found out how to get Thunderbird running is to restart the nscd service. Does anyone has this problem ? Can I do anything to thunderbird/nscd that can prevent this ? [opensuse] OpenSuSE 11: Live CD and Installation DVD wont Boot on a machine

Hi-- I'm a long time SuSE user and have recently purchased a new machine and installed SuSE 10.3 on it. Unfortunately I had some networking problems with the machine (seems like a common Marvell/skyline driver problem) and decided to take SuSE 11 for a spin to see if it would help, but alas, the installation DVD for the first alpha would reboot after some percentage, so I reverted to 10.3 and got myself a new network card for the machine and have been happy since. Now that you guys are getting closer to releasing SuSE 11, I thought I'd get my hands on the latest beta and give it a spin. Unfortunately, the Live CD and Installation DVD both reboot the machine just like the alpha version. When I select "SuSE 11" from the boot menu, the kernel gets to around 53% on the Live CD and rests. On the installation DVD, it gets to around 23% and the machine resets. I've tried the media in another machine and it works great, so I'm fairly certain its not something funky with the media. I've also tried doing various text modes and other boot options to see if I could get around this particular problem, but so far, no dice. As I mentioned, SuSE 10.3 works great on the machine and I've also attempted installing the latest Ubuntu on the box and that works fine too. I'm not sure how to proceed with this issue. I'd be happy to run other diagnostics or anything else to help resolve this issue, but at this moment, I'm at a loss for next steps. In case its helpful, my networking problem mentioned above occurred after I upgraded the machine from 2GB RAM to 8GB RAM; SuSE 10.3 was installed with 2GB's of RAM. The machine is an Acer Veriton M410, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+ processor, 8 GB RAM, the on-board Marvell Gig-E port is disabled in the BIOS but continues to show up in lspci, and a NetGear Gig-E adapter (Realtek RTL-8169) Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. [opensuse] NVIDIA installation problem on OpenSuse 10.3 and solution

Hey, I tried to install 10.3 on a new ThinkPad T61p with an Nvidia QuadroFX 570M (the option for all T61p nowadays). After installation, it recognized the NVIDIA 570 correctly: whenever there was the switch to X, the screen went black. (The only way to get out of it is random and blind attempts to shut down, restart (hard restart)) - Looking into the opensuse wiki: suggested 1-click install:http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA. (Since there is no X: browsing and clicking on the icon does not work.) {Reminded me of the quest for the key which is behind the closed door, which it unlocks). - http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html: Gives you a hint which rpms to download (w/ or w/o G01), if you look into the source of the page, but uses some out-dated (it seems) Yast layout. Additionally, for some reason, adding a repository did not work. The solution: 0. Start the computer and enter "3" at the Grub startup. Login. Become su. 1. Go into yast, Software, Community Repositories and choose to include the NVIDIA, Main Repository (Sources), Main Update Repository. (The last one might not be necessary but it also does not hurt.). Click finish. 2. In yast, Software, Software management, and search for NVIDIA and install x11-video-nvidia. Use the G01 if you have a recent card. (The dependancies are taken care of automatically.) 3. on the comand prompt: sax2 -r. Done It would be so awesome if in 11.0 the community repositories would be included (automatically or manually) during installation (during the Sax part at the end, because yast recognized the card). Because the CGA version yast on the command line is not really an eye-candy and too cumbersome for Grandma. Also killing X after installation blindly by powering down, is not too good for the harddisk. Changing the OpenSuse wiki to something that does not require browsing and clicking on a symbol also would be helpful. But great work.
