[opensuse] setarch utility in opensuse 10.3

Could not find setarch utility neither in the standard repository, nor in any of the unofficial. Is there any reason why it not there, or probably it has another name here? Go figure... > I have a older machine with 10.3 with this problem. I found a work around by modifying /boot/grub/menu.lst to add apm=off and acpi=force. This assumes you are using Grub. My BIOS does not support acpi and shows up on boot as older than 2001(year). [opensuse] Require help & guidance on displaying for presentation

Hi guys, i using SUse 10.3 for 32 bit . I need to connect to a large monitor or projector to display my screen for presentation. My situation is this. I connect my laptop to a samsung lcd monitor. on the loading page, it is able to display on the samsung lcd. But once my machine loads the desktop, the lcd monitor display blacks out and the client dislay is never on the lcd display again. Once i boot off, it comes up the boot off screen, the lcd display the details on my laptop display again. What is the problem behind it? How to set up? [opensuse] network printer problem

Time ago this problem didn't exist, any pending printing to a stopped printer was automatically resent when switching on the printer. It's no more the case. Is this a bug or a feature?? for some months I had to remove the printer in yast and reinstall it to make it work, but I just found a much better system and I added this to ther wiki (see below the link and the content). But this need to go to the cups console could we not, at least, have a yast option to do the samething? of course "rccups restart" don't do any good jdd http://en.opensuse.org/Printer_Sharing_with_Linux_clients With my openSUSE 10.3 and network printers (9100 port type), I had the following problem: * I print and notice the printer is off. I push the button and it awakes, but nothing prints. What I did: go to yast, add me to the group "lp" lauch firefox and go to http://localhost:631 then, in "printers" page, my printer is noted "stopped", but here is a button "start the printer". I clic on the button and I'm asked for a login and a passwd. [opensuse] Monitoring the number of connections

P2P applications use a lot of connections, often surpassing the limits of home equippment like modems and routers, resulting in frequent reboots, making the internet connection unstable. The prevalent Swiss cable modem for example can only handle 400 connections, while common default settings for filesharing apps is around 800 connections, and if you use one app for bittorrent and one for Kad/Ed2k 1600 :-) How can i monitor the number of active connections (used by other applications, TCP and UDP) so i can set the limits properly ? Open or half-open, i don't know the difference. Also is there a limit set by OpenSuse 10.3 ? I am about to receive a machine built for me with a Raid 1 system setup in Windows XP. The drives are formatted 1/2 for NTFS, for Windows, and the other halves are unformatted. I will either put on Suse 10.3, or wait for 11.0 to use the other halves of the drives. (BTW: if I d/l 10.3, will it have the bug-fixes already installed in the code, or not?) How can I do this, retaining the Raid 1 configuration for Linux also? And, how can I format the drives so that there will be a small FAT32 partition as well as the usual Linux partitions? (ext3, I guess, altho Reiser has worked well for me.) I don't remember that the install routine gives you the option of formatting different partitions with different file systems, or am I forgetting? What will Windows call the Fat32 partition? For reference, I have both of the 9.2 books, but not 9.3, and I think, only one 10.0 book. --doug Blessed are the peacemakers ... for they shall be shot at from both sides. --A.M. [opensuse] Adobe flash player "no audio"

I am enrolled in a series of professional courses which are delivered as Adobe Presentations. My browser displays the graphic content just fine (OpenSuse 10.3), but the adobe flash player plugin displays a message "no audio" and there is no sound. I've been through all the web postings and faqs I can find and none of the solutions have worked. It's maddening for such a simple thing not to work. All the adobe doc says that sound works.
