[opensuse] Lost Window Widgets

I disabled compiz on my 11.0 x86-64 with KDE 3.5.9 because it was slowing the system down too much, but oddly enough I no longer have the widgets to minimize, full screen or exit that normally appear in the top right hand corner. The default behaviour on my laptop is for apps to open full screen, thereby hiding the ribbon bar at the bottom. [opensuse] Revert to Compiz 0.7.4, now setting won't stay set?

J, All I have reverted to compiz 7.4 and I cannot set some of the settings in compizconfig-settings-manager. I click the check box and the check appears, but the the check mark goes away. I have tried deleting .xcompizrc and ./config/compiz and restarting compiz, but the setting still don't stay. The console output says: /usr/bin/compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'scaleaddon' /usr/bin/compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'scaleaddon' /usr/bin/compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'ring' /usr/bin/compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'shift' Also curious, with Application Switcher and with ctrl+alt+downarrow (to show all 4 desktops) all the desktops are white? [opensuse] Printing to PDF from Firefox - Something Broke

Summfing broke: I often print files from Firefox to PDF. I have been doing this for some time and on a regular basis (receipts for registration and whatnot) on my current system - openSUSE 10.3/KDE. I went to print - of all things - a registration for LinuxDay 2008. (http://www.novell.com/linux/linuxday/register.html) I no longer have the print-to-file option that I did with the option to select PDF or Postscript. I went ahead and selected the Print to File button next to the drop-down list of printers in the print dialog box. I was given simply the option of a name. I went ahead and selected myname.pdf. I ended up with a useless postscript file. What happened? What did I mess up? Here's the firefox I have: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080716 SUSE/2.0.0.16-0.1 Firefox/2.0.0.16 I've included the messed up file. Listmates, An update to compiz 0.7.8-25.1 killed compiz tonight. After an unsuccessful Yast update and unsuccessful 1-click install, investigation into manual start of compiz disclosed a fatal error: "compiz (core) - Error: Plugin 'core' has ABI version '20080828', expected ABI version '30080902'." The installed files are: compiz-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-bcop-0.7.8-2.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-devel-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-emerald-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-devel-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-16.1 compiz-fusion-kde-0.6.2-3.4 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-devel-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported-0.7.8-2.4 compiz-kde-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-49.1 libcompizconfig-0.7.8-2.1 python-compizconfig-0.7.8-2.1 This is on x86_64. Did I catch the repos in the middle of an update that resulted in the bad install? I saw an earlier thread, I believe yesterday, was there a fix. After having a very stable compiz desktop since 11.0 install, I was a bit surprised to run into this. If anyone has any thoughts on how to fix it, please let me know. Thanks! Now, there is no windows decorations and Configure Desktop -> Advanced -> Session Manager -> Window Manager -> Compiz does not exist. Not able to run simple-ccsm as the keyboard does not work in terminal. There has to be a simpler way for compiz to update. Everytime i update, compiz breaks! Anyone know how to get compiz working again? What do you all say about there not being a "window manager" option in Configure Desktop -> Advanced -> Session Manager -> Window Manager -> Compiz See attachment for screenshot.
