[opensuse] Getting Suspend/Resume to work on MacBook Pro[Santa Rosa]

I am running openSUSE 10.3 on my macbook pro[Santa Rosa] hardware. So far I have managed to get sound, wifi, isight, track-pad all working beautifully. The only hold up is the Suspend/Resume functionality. Has anyone out here been able to get their Macbook Pro's to suspend/resume flawlessly? Right now I can suspend fine, but resume does not bring back networking and track-pad doesn't work after a few seconds. I am following the instructions from this wiki entry: http://en.opensuse.org/Pm-utils in my /etc/pm/config.d/modules I have the following: SUSPEND_MODULES="button uhci_hcd" HIBERNATE_METHOD={userspace,kernel} # selects the suspend to disk method. Defaults to userspace. S2RAM_OPTS="-f -p -m" # options that are passed to s2ram. See also s2ram for more information. At the bottom of the page, it specifies the following: ############################################################################# Restarting the mouse On some laptops the mouse will hang after an otherwise successful suspend. One way to remedy this is to force a reinit of the PS/2 driver (here i8042) through a hook in /etc/pm/hooks (see hooks) #!/bin/sh echo -n "i8042" > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/unbind echo -n "i8042" > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/bind ############################################################################# I don't seem to have the "i8042" driver on my system. Would the equivalent for that be the drivers for the track-pad? MacBookPro doesn't seem to be in the s2ram whitelist. [opensuse] kopete kde4 and gmail

Hi I'm trying to use kopete in kde4 i have successfully configured my MSN and kdetalk (jabber) accounts, but my google talk account is unable to connect i have setup the same settings that in my kopete from kde3 (which is able to connect). It seems to be an unknown error trying to autentificate (i get the error in spanish) Ocurrio un error de autenticacion con el servidor: Fallo el acceso por un motivo desconocido. [opensuse] NAT under 10.1

Greets: I have two SuSE boxes, one 10.1 (with internet connection) and one 10.3 connected to a second private NIC (eth1). I've done the following: #echo "1" /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward # iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE # iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o eth1 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT # iptables -A FORWARD -i eth1 -o eth0 -j ACCEPT And on client machine added default GW. Eth0 would be external interface and eth1 private. Content-Type: text/plain ...that's your problem. I had the same issue when I moved email from Exchange/Outlook to Evolution. I wrote instructions in the Evolution list server to fix it, you could adapt these: Note that I'm working w/ local files in ~/.evolution/mail/local. The 2005-6 file is the name of my Evolution folder, but that directory has many files w/ that in the name: 2005-6 2005-6.ev-summary 2005-6.ev-summary-meta 2005-6.ibex.index 2005-6.cmeta 2005-6.ibex.index.data 1) Use evolution to search for all email that included "<!DOCTYPE", then 2) Move all resulting messages to a temporary folder, I'm using 2005-6 as my temporary folder name in this case. 3) Stop evolution (look in the process queue with ps auxww | grep evo" to assure all is stopped), 4) Cd to ~/.evolution/mail/local, 5) Backup all the "2005-6*" files before proceeding. 6) Delete all "2005-6.*" files except for "2005-6" itself, since Evolution will auto-recreate the rest. 7) Run sed on that file (2005-6), output to another file (2005-6.2): sed 's,Content-Type: text/plain,Content-Type: text/html,g' \ <2005-6 >2005-6.2 8) Move 2005-6.2 to 2005-6 9) Restart evolution. 10) In Evolution, open the temporary folder (may take awhile to reindex), 11) Selected all messages, 12) Moved those messages back to the inbox, 13) Deleted the temp folder. You might want to assure that the "Content Type" is the problem before running the "sed", and assure that the file looks good (has the content type changed) after running the "sed". Just a little note here. In my few weeks of searching for a distro, I tried Ubuntu also. I'm not knocking it as every distro has positives and negatives, though I like this and Debian the best. What I didn't like about Ubuntu is that one signed in as root and then one would have to create another user and remember to use it, though there was probably a way to change the su to user and visa versa. Anyway, thanks for everybody's input on this one. I got a bit of an education from some of the conversations. Also, this is a good friendly list. I appreciate that also. The problem in Linux is not "virus", but other types of malware, like worms, rootkits, attacks, perhaps trojans... Most of them are fighted by firewalls, proper software maintenance (ie, closing fast the holes as they are discovered), good practices (not installing anything from anywhere, for instance). It is possible that an email contains code, but in Linux mail clients do not execute code without you knowing - and would execute as user, not root, so the damage would be limited. But innocuous files like gif images have been known to trigger holes in some software (now and then a hole of this type is closed by an update). Or a pdf file can contain scripts which are executed by acrobat. Some of this things could be detected by an antivirus scanning email. -- Cheers, Carlos E.
