[SLE] RealPlayer G2 on SuSe 6.2

Yesterday, I finally got sound going on my Linux setup. I downloaded RealPlayer G2 and it worked beautifully. Today, RealPlayer run but no sound coming out. All other sound functions still work. I can still play my CD, have system sound BUT no sound when I run RealPlayer. /var/log/message said kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error? but KDE sound still work. I have re-installed RealPlayer 3 times now, still no sound when I run the RealPlayer. Any help is appreciated. Mount Windows NT(NTFS) drive as drive Z: for all users

Adding fonts?

Hi all, Reading some mails on the GIMP mail list, I ran across the procedure to install some more fonts for not only Gimp, but the system and StarOffice to use also. Well, I installed the fonts, went to the shell and issued the command xset fp+ <font directory> and then the rehash command and all fonts are there! Ok, that went well, but each time I restart the system, I have to do it all over again? Impress does not play sound on Linux. However, it does with Openoffice on XP. I have had an exchange with the developer and now understand what is causing the delay on Linux. He offers this as a work around while they are sorting out the real solution. http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=50506&view=next However, it would be nice to substitute on SUSE 10.2 fmj which is available for SUSE 10.2 either from Packman or SUSE, I don't remember. However, I have not got that to work. In addition I have not been able to translate his instructions for jmf to a working solution as yet. If anyone knows how to get this working on SUSE and would willing to write up something clear for the rest of that would really be neat. [opensuse] Changing drivers on Xorg (intel card)

Hi, replaced the "i810" driver with "intel" looking for better results on getting the s-video output to work but the server is using a wrong DisplaySize leaving me with a weird desktop. [opensuse] Postfix does not seem to be logging

Running SuSE 10.0 on my server, I'm trying to see why my mobile phone isn't allowed to relay through it. However, having tried to clean my log files to make finding the test section easier, I seem to have stopped the logging process. Two tries at postfix reload have not resolved the issue and after about an hour, mail, mail.err, mail.warn and mail.info all remain empty. Any suggestions, please? Dear my friends, Our company is developing an application for POS. It includes: Cashier Machine, Barcode reader, Cash Drawer, Credit Card reader and inventory+repository. It's basically a PC but equipped with the devices for a kind of shop. We are insist to make opensuse as the priority of its platform. And we need to buy the machine as the development environment. They are: 1. PC Desktop; 2. Barcode reader; 3. Cash Drawer; 4. Credit card reader. So now, the question is which devices we should choose to buy so we do not have too much work to build the application because our "Development Time Frame" is not enough to also build the device driver, typical device manager software and so on. If it's possible please also give me the information to buy the device from. Virtual shop (website) is also OK. I'm running OpenSUES 10.2 on a Pentium4 system where I have installed XEN and some guests. One of the guests is a (opensuse 10.2) firewall with 5 NICs. Since we have the limit of max 3 vifs' I'm exporting 2 with help of pciback. This works fine most of the time but sometimes the guest doesn't find the 2 direct exported ports ("lspci" returns nothing). It seems to never work if I reboot the guest and if I shutdown/create it works most of the time but not always. What can I do to make sure it always works? Where should I look for the problem ? Suse 10.2 on Latitude D820, KDE normally shows 4 buttons for the 4 desktops. Under Compiz, it shows 16. 1 thru 4 are labeled desktop 1 thru 4 as you hold the mouse cursor over the button. Buttons 5 thru 16 show up as desktop 1. How can I get rid of the extra 12 buttons? KDE desktop config and compiz cssm all show only 4 desktops enabled. Searched all of the config files that I could find relating to compiz and KDE, but found nothing out of the ordinary. Hello Guys, Do anyone of you use any tape drive for personal backup? I personally use a 2nd internal hard-drive where I perform nightly backups but twice a year I backup to offline media (DVD-R DL media)...but right now I'm reaching 100 GB of data...that's a bunch of data to burn! (even if it's dual layer media). I know there are HD and Blu-ray drives but they're too expensive. I think I can get a tape-drive for much mess. I just would like to know if anyone recommends any particular tape-drive and also what software do you use with it (just plain tar?) Thanks! As you know clamAV provides NO realtime virus detection and from time to time we all need to execute a clamscan - Well I just performed a clamscan and found 4 folder which a year or so stored and catagorised emails and all 4 folders were infected with Phishing.Heuristics.emal.spoofedDomain virus's. As almost all emails are held in mbox format I would suggest everyone to run a scan periodically. Remember clamAV provides NO repeat NO real time protection, even if you copy them to a MS Windows or NSF drive or open an infected file or execute an infected .bin file Scott

Hi all, I'm trying to show a demo on how to modify PAM so that /etc/nologin is bypass by ssh. I have modified /etc/pam.d/sshd: #%PAM-1.0 auth include common-auth #auth required pam_nologin.so account include common-account password include common-password session include common-session When I try to ssh into the PC, I get logged in, but immediately got kicked out. In /var/log/messages I see this: sshd : User fajar is not allowed because /etc/nologin exists I have 'grep -r nologin /etc And have commented some of the entries in apparmor too, but still cannot login. I once succeeded in bypassing /etc/nologin, but I forget how. [opensuse] Printing Failure

I recently did a fresh 10.2 install. Initially the printer setup went with any problems and printing from any app worked fine. For the last couple of days I have not been able to get any of my 5 usb printers to work. I have tried uninstalling cups, deleting previous cups configurations and reinstalling to no avail. YaST correctly identifies the printers and selects the appropriate drivers, but the test function produces nothing. Sending a file to a print queue from any app (eg. kate) show up in KDE's print manager as "processing", but the process never finishes. No errors are displayed during either the setup test or normal printing. I have ruled out hardware issues, because other usb devices (scanners, ext hdd, cameras, etc.) work fine under Linux and all printers work perfectly under Windows on this box. Am I missing something obvious here, or is there a cups issue with 10.2 that I should know about? Any pointers or suggestions would be welcome. TIA Dave

I really need some help on a networking problem that I have tried to solve for several months now. At least point me to where I can find the answer as I have searched the web and not found anything. (Could be I am not asking right question, but I am not a programmer) After booting up, I open a root console and execute the following commands. ifplugd -bfi eth1 route add default gw 192.168.11.1 route del default gw 10.18.32.1 This gets me internet access for linux on the wireless card. (eth0 is used by Windows under parallels, normal network card) I put these commands in /etc/init.d/boot.local. When I boot, It does not work. If I try to enter them again in a root console, the ifplugd -bfi eth1 seems to work, that is no error. The route add default gw 192.168.11.1 comes back network unreachable. So, I remove the commands from boot.local, reboot, then everything works again after entering all of the commands in a root console. What am I doing wrong?
