[opensuse] Strange sound "clicking" in Kaffeine

Hey guys! After long and crazy move to the other side of the planet I'm finally back here. I'm having a strange problem, when playing DVD's or any Videos with Kaffeine, I can hear kind of "clicking" in the background... I can survive with it for 10 minutes but then it gets annoying... I'm using Kaffeine 0.8.4, KDE 3.5.5 and openSUSE 10.2. I've done some googling, but since I even don't know how to formulate it correctly - no luck :( No problems with XMMS. Any directions or help will be so much appreciated. [opensuse] kernel build error: "features.h: No such file or directory"

After upgrading to the kernel-source-2.6.18.8-0.5 package, I see no "features.h" in either linux or SCSI includes (XEN has one). I can't compile the kernel: ... CC fs/bio.o In file included from fs/bio.c:29: include/scsi/sg.h:29:22: error: features.h: No such file or directory make[1]: *** [fs/bio.o] Error 1 ... What package am I missing (or is this header auto-made)? There needs to be an online, completely patched, RPM database that allows you to perform an "rpm -q --whatprovides ..." to find RPMs you don't have. Hi! :-) THANKS to James, Jerry and Sunny for their help! ;-) Unfortunatelly, I couldn't manage to launch (gnome) nautilus as su. I tried the suggested solutions, among some similar ones (eg. gksu, gksudo etc.), but all of them stucked just after su pwd confirmation. Anyway, completing the respective task in kde environment, was just a piece of cake! :-) My next task, is installing opensuse with kde as default desktop. :-) THANKS AGAIN, for your help!!! [opensuse] 10.2 Freezing On Boot

I have had 10.2 installed on one of my boxes since it was first released and until today it never given me any problems. When I turned this box on today the boot process started and froze at "Setting up the hardware clock". Tried several hardware resets and a few attempts at a "Safe Boot", but it continues to freeze at the same point. There is no problem booting into Win XP, or live CDs from 4 other distros where there does not appear issue with the date/time setting. Can anyone offer any thoughts or suggestions as to a possible cause and/or solution. TIA Dave

Browsing this server I found only http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/10.3/ and ISO files for 10.2. Where are the security updates???? I also checked the homepage http://www.opensuse.de, read the FAQ, and a few further links ... without luck! Shame on you! Normally I would report this as bug (at least against the website) but my last experiences with Novell was that I need to register first and that I even have to specify my (snail) mail address. I will not do so and try to ignore all Suse related bugs that's why (in Debian I report everything, often provide patches but OpenSuse, oh no ...). Conclusion: I don't need a reply to this mail, I just don't care. But I strongly suggest that this will be improved! PS: I'm not subcribed. I have been unable to install open SUSE from a DVD to my desktop PC. [opensuse] Cannot lookup privilege from PolicyKit

Using Suse 10.2 on Dell Latitude D820, when I plug in an external USB hard drive I get the above message. This is a new problem. This used to work, but lately I have been having problems with usb drives.Also just tried a 1 GB Sandisk, same problem. What is causing this all of a sudden? One thing I did do yesterday was an online update, but there were only 5 updates that were security related. Оленька! Разделался с очередной порцией авральных дел (ненадолго, уверен, что к концу дня подбросят еще) и решил ответить. Описание "ягодного безумия" столь наглядно! Я очень хорошо понимаю и удовольствие от сбора ("не забуду клюквь родную") и силу привычки. Не понимаю только почему люди перестали есть варенье? Диеты? Ерунда все. Я понемногу, но ем - с творогом, например, или с мороженым. Тут появились всякие "русские" фирмы которые делают иногда очень даже неплохое варенье (клюква, абрикос, вишня, та же клубника). В.И. у нас все получает водород в фотовольтаической ячейке. Не знаю, я вообще скептически отношусь ко всей этой электрохимии. Что это ей даст? Не знаю, может быть моральное удовлеткорение. В принципе, когда мы искали "вкладчиков", некоторые говорили - слишком рано. Вот если бы был патент - тогда... Т.е. было бы какое-то подтверждение потенциальной пригодности идеи. Я от Турции отбился, но идея еще не умерла - они с Манькой пока собираются, если смогут получить ту же гостиницу, где Любы с Лешей будут. Насчет дешивизны, большой вопрос. Тут предлагают пакет "все включено" за 700 долларов. Дотошная Манька уже переписалась с гостиницей и те объяснили, что "все - да не все". Например напитки только местные. Если захочешь датского пива - надо платить... Но пока они еще не получили подтверждение заказа. Про 2008 думаю да, приеду. Но пока еще слишком рано загадывать. Про "квазиупорядоченный" бардак, я, честно говоря, имел в виду американов, а не израильтян (становлюсь патриотом :-) ) Тут все учитывают склонность к бардаку и соответственно работают. Даже во время курса по работе в "многокультурной среде" нам все время подчеркивали, что это типично для израильтян и неприемлемо во многих других культурах. Кстати, там прозвучало нечто, что поразило моего товарища Мишу Левина. Он в Союзе успел отслужить в армии на Дальнем Востоке, (офицер-2х годичник) и у него остался некий пиеетет к армейской дисциплине и иерархии. Поэтому когда он услышал, что в израильской армии солдат учат на поле боя импровизировать - для него это было потрясением. Пока все. Иду на очередную совещалку. Всего наилучшего, всем приветы. М.
