[opensuse] Can't connect to network folder through samba

Hi all! I have a desktop computer with Windows XP Home and I'm not able to connect to it through my wireless network with my laptop with openSUSE 10.2 and KDE 3.5.7, I can see it but I'm not able to access it, I have shared the folders within Windows, set the firewall, but nothing... However, when I'm working with th Windows machine I can see my openSUSE machine an access it, so I can access from Windows machine to openSUSE machine but not the other way around... I also have Ubuntu installed in my laptop and from Ubuntu I can access the windows machine without problems... [opensuse] kmix doesn't start automatically any more

Kmix used to always start automatically (in the task tray) each time I log in to KDE. Now it doesn't do that any more. I have to manually start it. How do I get it to auto-start again? Greetings list openSuSE 10.2 fully patched :-) ez-ipupdate-3.0.11b8-162 My /etc/ez-ipupdate.conf reads as follows: ===8<----- #run-as-user=<user> service-type=dyndns user=<my_username>:<my_password> host=<my_host_name> #wildcard #mx=<my_mx_server> interface=dsl0 daemon cache-file=/var/lib/ez-ipupdate/ez-ipupdate.cache.dsl0 ===8<----- Restarting this service: rcezip-update restart Shutting down ez-ipupdate done Starting ez-ipupdate done which looks OK, until: tail -n 20 /var/log/messages ... Jul 26 16:54:44 development /usr/bin/ez-ipupdate[6839]: malformed cache file: /var/lib/ez-ipupdate/ez-ipupdate.cache.dsl0 ... and the dyndns is >not< updated. Does anybody have any insight into this? VMWare Player is free... find an existing Windows image to use and add your app to it. [opensuse] KDM: Cannot log in as regular user

Hi all, something strange has happened. My SUSE 10.0 machine was working well for many moons, but today I had to reboot to try some BIOS setting changes. After restoring the BIOS setting to what it was and booting up the system I was no longer able to log in via the KDM login screen. After typing in the user name and password, the screen blanks for a moment and the login screen reappears. I can log in as root into KDE, though. Also, I tried various GUI environments other than KDE (fvwm, twm , etc.) and the same problem happens. The only environment that I could successfully log in as a normal user is "failsafe". After logging in under failsafe, if I type the "startkde" command then KDE starts fine. If I close the failsafe terminal window then my whole session gets logged out. I don't see anything obviously wrong in the log files. I also tried removing everything in /tmp and /var/tmp to clean up the KDE temporary stuff, but it didn't help. Any suggestions how to fix this? Hi all, In earlier days I have been using rchotplug restart to get a non-reacting USB-drive to react again. Since 10.2 it is no longer possible to use this: bash: rchotplug: command not found Is there a command in 10.2 that gives me similar function?
