I'm not gonna spend the money on a nice sound card for this box, because it mainly acts as a server for my lan, but it would be nice to be able to review some of the mp3's the various users upload to it. It's not something I absolutely need, but it would be nice. [opensuse] Getting rid of Zenworks

I forgot to delete Zen from my 10.2 installation. Now whenever I add an update source, it takes about a half-hour to synchronize with Zen. Can I just delete Zen with Yast, or will I cause problems removing a functioning parasite? Hi, I've installed a new SuSE 10.1 with some additional packages that I've downloaded from the net. Now I can't shut down. I think it was all because I installed fuse 2.6.5 and ntfs-3g 1.516. [opensuse] This is driving me crazy

I can't seem to get a stable 10.2 system running on one of my boxes. I've tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions. Both seemingly randomly lock whenever I access my user's home directory. Also, there are random lockups of the taskbar. I'm about ready to go back to 10.0. I've been googling like crazy for the past 4-5 days and can't find anything close to my problem. Also, in the graphical mode, the keyboard keys become so touchy that I often get 5-6 repeats of the last letter I pressed. Am I the only one seeing this problem? Oh, maybe this will help; on the advice of this email list, I put an NVidia card into a slot because I couldn't get my ATI card to recognize my widescreen monitor, but the ATI remains in the box because it's built into the motherboard. BTW, this has taken me almost an hour to write because of that damn key repeating problem. [opensuse] ksmarttray not checking for updates as regular user

Hi, I found this thread in the lists: <http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2006-07/msg00950.html> It's a little bit old, and for version 0.42 of smart. I'm using 0.51 from guru repo on opensuse 10.2, and still have this exact problem. I.e. following the advises from all the posts I could find on the topic, I still can not make ksmarttray to go and refresh(update) the channels. If I manually update the channels with smart update as root, then ksmarttray will display that there are pending updates. But it will not do it by itself, unless I run it as root. I found another post, which directs to execute SuSEconfig --module permissions, so ksmarttray receives a suid setting or so, but it did not help as well. Do I need to set ksmarttray suid manually? Is this a problem with the package itself? Or should I follow the workaround proposed by the author of the above mentioned post - to run a cron job to do smart update, and then let ksmarttray run as user, and only notify for updates? Or, changing the the permissions of /var/lib/smart tree, and make this belong to some (maybe wheel) group, so I can run ksmarttray as member of that group? Any suggestion what should be the safest approach? Of interest to me was the fact that the incoming SRC port kept changing from time to time...this exerpt starts with a reply from me to them from port 22 to port 38381 in answer to a previous frame....my machine name is ASUS in this exchange and his apparently reverse lookups to NETOPIA despite the whois info above for the IP provided by the header info. I'll be honest, I am out of my league when it comes to this type of a problem and I appreciate any help you guys and gals can provide. I also appreciate all of the help that has already been provided. I know I am not the only one with this problem so if success does show its' ugly face around here, I'm sure a lot of hackers around the world will be disappointed because I will spread the word to all of you that care to listen. MY IPS system has been warning me of regular - time initiated http messages to www.kde.org. These messages are auto sent 24/7 even by idle Workstations. I cannot test a gnome desktop, however I think they may not be auto sent. http://users.tpg.com.au/adslmi38/linux/kde04_Jul_17_2007_14_36_32.pdf Does anyone know 1. Their purpose 2. What is in the self initiated http traffic. NB These messages are not looking for updates as their appears no functional ability to download only KDE updates. Update messages ARE self initiated at a designated time, however these messages are sent every 2 then 8 minutes 24/7. Any Ideas. P.S Please refrain from using the expression "digital Rights Messages" as this is not licensed software per say (sorry no acute symbol) See attached report for a 30 day period.
