[opensuse] zlib, OpenSUSE 10.0 and threads.

Is the zlib package as supplied with openSUSE 10.0 thread-safe? I have googled and checked the bugzilla for SUSE and not found much, which can mean anything. Is anyone else using zlib in a threaded C application on openSUSE? In my case, each file opened with zlib is totally thread-specific. I do not think I am up to anything odd or fancy. [opensuse] Importing Outlook.pst to Thunderbird

Hi all, I want to import from a outlook.pst file into Thunderbird. It has an import function. All goes well till the datafile is searched for by Thunderbird. It is obviously looking for an Outlook installation and the default *.pst file it refers to. There is however no Office installed at all on the system. [opensuse] Via Epia LT and Dual Screen?

Hi List, I am thinking of buying an Via Epia LT board [1] with the Via CX700 Chipset [2] and an additional LVDS module for DVI. A quick grep through the kernel source (2.6.18.8-0.3, stock openSUSE 10.2) did not show anything except IDE support for this chipset. 'man via' for the Xorg driver also shows only support for "VIA CLE266, KM400/KN400, K8M/N800, PM/N800 and CN400 chipsets", but no CX700. Has already anyone tried this board and can tell me, wether everything works as supposed and if dual screen is supported? [opensuse] Routing question. Connecting comp to multiple public networks.

How do I connect a computer to 2 internet connections (two gateways) at once and setup routes in such way, so when a packet comes in from a public network, it replies back through the same interface and not through the default gateway. And I want to do all that with suse's ifroute scripts. I have already implemented this using iproute with a script like this. #!/bin/bash IF1=bond0 IP1=192.168.10.5 NET1=192.168.10.0/24 GATE1=192.168.10.52 IF2=vlan20 IP2=192.168.20.5 NET2=192.168.20.0/24 GATE2=192.168.20.1 ip route add $NET1 dev $IF1 src $IP1 table T1 ip route add default via $GATE1 table T1 ip route add $NET2 dev $IF2 src $IP2 table T2 ip route add default via $GATE2 table T2 ip rule add from $IP1 table T1 ip rule add from $IP2 table T2 The downside of this is that I had to modify /etc/init.d/network to include this script in the network startup process. As soon as I update the system my changes got overridden. Besides I should probably do it the intended Suse way anyways, that is of course if such way exists. I tried using ifroute scripts before but could not get desired outcome. [opensuse] Virtual domain, between Postfix and Qmail

please enlight me with this issue : As far as i know, Postfix can handle virtual domain, but it can not has the same username for virtual doman. For example I have 2 domain on my server : - domain www.a.com and - domain www.b.com If i have a user named 'hans', and hans is with a.com domain, then i'll have hans(a)a.com. If b.com domain has a user also name hans, then Postfix will not be able to see there are 2 hans, but only 1 hans. Thus, i can not have hans(a)b.com. Am i right? On the other hand, qmail will be able to do that. [opensuse] Disabling SKIM's hotkey

Hi, I'm using 10.1 with some multilingual support. I got annoyed by SKIM because it always read ctrl / alt / etc as its hotkeys and always showed a popup and changed the keyboard. I couldn't even get the autocomplete feature in KDevelop because of this annoying feature. How can I turn off SKIM's hotkeys? I still needed SKIM but I don't want the hotkeys. Thanks in advance. [opensuse] Help! RO File System Lock down OpenSUSE 10.2

Hi all, I must be quick, before the system locks down again. It seems that since I installed OpenSUSE 10.2 and used ext3 FS, I get system Lockdowns with the File System going Read Only suddenly. At bootup the ext3 rollback of journals seem to be doing something, even if the shut down was done normally. There seems to be a correlation to high disk access, which occurs when either Evolution, KMail (Kontact) or Gimp loads and saves files on a default ext3 OpenSUES 10.2 root system, with a reiserfs partition mounted on /home/<user>/Data/Data1 and/or a xfs on /home/<user>/Data/Data2, where the data is. Can using different FS's in one system cause such problems? [opensuse] Locked out of my software database!

Hi, My opensuse updater suddenly started showing the yellow triangle with the exclamation point a few days ago. When I try to clear it, it exits with the message "Another process is accessing the package database. Package management cannot be used now." ps -e | grep ast shows only something called "master" running, so it doesn't appear to be yast. I can't get either the updater or yast to run without rebooting the machine. What else could be locking the database?
