[opensuse] Caching updates locally/Local update server

Hi Everyone, I need to update my opensuse machines at times, and the uplink is not so good as it through VSAT links. I was looking for a place where the online updater stores its files, but I could not find any location. The files seemed to be temporarily stored in /var/adm/mount/..., but then once the update was over, these files got automatically removed. If there is no option for creating an automated local update server, I think I would have to manage with locally cached rpms, but then, even for locally cached rpms, which location can I find them in, and what would be a good idea to manage my updates for a LAN? The funny thing is: in Yast2, when I go to Patch->All in this list, I see that the option Keep has been selected. However, the rpms do not seem to appear anywhere. Can anyone help me out with this? The Intel® 965GM Express Chipset represents the first mobile product that implements fourth generation Intel graphics architecture. Designed to support advanced rendering features in modern graphics APIs, this chipset includes support for programmable vertex, geometry, and fragment shaders. Extending Intel's commitment to work with the X.org and Mesa communities to continuously improve and enhance the drivers, support for this new chipset is provided through the X.org 2.0 Intel driver and the Mesa 6.5.3 releases. These drivers represent significant work by both Intel and the broader open source community. In addition to Intel® 965GM chipset support, the X.org 2.0 driver adds native video mode programming support for all chipsets from i830 forward. The driver supports automatic video mode detection and selection, monitor hot plug, dynamic extended and merged desktops and per-monitor screen rotation. [opensuse] RE: Current Kernal handeling of multi core 64bit Processors

I am thinking of upgrading my P4 HT 3.2 to 64 Bit Processors. I am seriously thinking about a dual core AMD's Athlon 64 X2 processors. Can anyone tell me if CURRENT open suse 64 bit version will be able to address the dual Processor. This is NOT an HT issue. Its processor origami like Intel core 2 processors. Many thanks Also with the Linux O/S - despite processor limitations work that markedly better with hugs amounts of RAM. For example I have 2 GIG of RAM currently and am thinking of changing it to 4 GIG. I understand that the kernel can use more file cacheing, but that is what I do not want to know. With the superior way the Linux Kernel manages Memory, if we remove the increased file caching ability will the Kernel be able to utilise the extra memory registers for processing. I know the immediate answer to the above under Windows, but M$ has severe limitations in the amount of memory it can use for direct processing - Its a disaster how than can continue to realise new software where the O/S has to have memory management and severe limitation is what amount of memory the processor can directly address - Its still out of the ark. The following link is the 16-page report from the 2007 Open Source Think Tank(pdf). http://thinktank.olliancegroup.com/ostt2007report.pdf Some of the participants see a future convergence of open and proprietary development strategies... mostly driven I think by M$. Among the topics (including GPLv3) was a presentation by M$-Novell--- from the first paragraph: "Due to the controversy around the Microsoft-Novell deal represented in Mark Radcliffe’s presentation, the conference hosts gave Microsoft and Novell the opportunity to explain the agreement from their perspective. [opensuse] Postfix + Cyrus IMAP + MySQL won't work :-(

Hi all, I followed the instructions under http://www.delouw.ch/linux/Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO/html/index.html to set up Postfix + Cyrus IMAP + MySQL. Before posting here I was searching for a solution but couldn't find it, so maybe someone here could shed some light... After setting everything up I wanted to test the whole scenario... It doesn't seem to work, though...
