A system variable apparently didn't "work" yesterday.....didn't get an error. It works FANTASTIC now! What I find of interest, is that one of the Iscan developers told me that the 4490 won't scan higher than 2400 with the Iscan driver. Yeah right.......sure does, and even though I haven't had the oportunity to check a lot of old negs yet, it certainly does work! Thanks for the heads up, Terry!! [opensuse] wanting to try kde4

After hearing some good reports about kde4, I'd decided to give it a try here on my 10.3 system. I added the kde4 repo and installed a good selection of kde4 software. I logged out of my kde3 session only to find that there is no option on gdm to start a kde4 session. So, how does a mere mortal try out kde4? At last! KDE4 can be opened! New 3.96.1 release does really works: it finds kdeinit4. Knowing it's still beta, I hope next releases would be do it finally stable and usable. Great. [opensuse] hotkey-setup freezes OpenSuse 10.3 on boot

I am running OpenSuSE 10.3 with latest updates on Sony Vaio PCG-V505DP. If hotkey-setup is enabled during the boot sequence, then the moment it starts, my caps-lock and scroll-lock keys begin flashing, and the system freezes up, refusing to respond to mouse and keyboard - I have to do a hard reboot. But if I run /etc/init.d/hotkey-setup start from the command line after the system is fully booted, everything works just fine. I see no relevant messages in log files, but this may be just because the system dies before the log can be written. I found a workaround for this: if RUN_PARALLEL is set to "no" in /etc/sysconfig/boot, everything works just fine. But the system takes longer to start up. I am guessing that there is some race condition/deadlock going on, in which case it would presumably be fixable by setting an appropriate dependency in either .depend.boot or .depend.start. But I'd rather not go through all services one by one - it would take rather long, not to mention that I'd rather not risk damaging my filesystem with those hard reboots. Can anyone make an intelligent guess as to what can be causing this, or suggest a nice way to figure this one out. [opensuse] KSSH on OpenSuSE 10.3.

I know that kssh has not been shipped with 10.2 or 10.3, but my original session home configuration had 2 windows opened up as kssh windows. Since I installed OpenSuSE 10.3 (as a clean install), I still have 1 window that opens up automatically on one of the hosts. So, it does appear that there is some remnant of kssh left. In any case, is there a replacement for kssh. [opensuse] CD titles artist how to?

I made a wav files of vinyl records. Then I burned those wav using k3b. I fill the spaces for artist title etc. When I play it I only see track 1, track 2 etc. I have been searching in how this info is contained I have not find any useful information.
