[opensuse] Need help switching net kernel drivers for RTL8100c

Hello, I am trying to get a RTL8100c integrated NIC to work under 10.3. Yast detects the card as a RTL8139 comptible. But the BIOS claims it's a RTL8100c. Looking in hwinfo, it's loading two drivers, 8139too.ko and 8139cp.ko, similar as per: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Realtek_8139_Driver_Problem However, neither network driver seems to work. I read a posting that trying a different driver might work. So my question is, how do I force a different driver other than the ones listed and detected by Yast? [opensuse] Suse 10.3-X86-64-GM install

Just installed 64-bit suse 10.3 on Athlon 64X2 4600+ with Nvidia 7300 GT (PciExpress X16). Install on raid1 drives succeeded this time with no problems. Glxgears runs at 880 fps (w/compiz-fusion) now versus 100 fps with 10.2 and Compiz-fusion full screen 1680X1050 resolution. Openoffice.org write opens in 2 seconds with quickstarter running. Everything is much faster than 10.2. Only hitch I ran into was "gnome-xgl-switch --disable-xgl" did not work. Said GDM was not running. I installed "kde-start-compiz" file in /home/afore/bin with "compiz ccp &" in the file and made it executeable. Compiz works better than ever. Tried the one-click install for compiz-fusion-kde and the plugins, that also worked great. Best Suse yet and a drastic improvement over 10.2. Hi All, I'm having an issue installing 10.3 on my PC. The installation fails with the following errors: ******************************************************************************************************** An error occurred during initrd creation Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22.5-31-default Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.22.5-31-default Root device:/dev/mapper/nvidia_dbijabab_part7 (mounted on / as ext3) Device dm-13 not handed Script /lib/mkinitrd/setup/72-block.sh failed! ERROR:Bootloader::Library::SetLoaderType: initializing for unknown bootloader ERROR:Bootloader::Core::ListFIles:Running generic function, it should never be called ERROR:Bootloader::Core::ParseLines: Running generic function, it should never be called ******************************************************************************************************** I'm trying to install 10.3 x64 on a nvidia raid device using the full "disk" with the recommended mount points and the default software recommendations. I've wiped the disks clean prior to installation and haven't changed anything from the recommendations. This setup worked fine in 10.2. I've also tried doing an update from a minimal install of 10.2, but that also failed with nearly the same error as above. The only difference was dm-13 was dm-8. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this problem? I don't want to do away with the fakeraid, if I can avoid it, since it worked fine in 10.2. [opensuse] DebianBased repository missing? What happened to it?

Hello, I use the DebianBased repository (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Ports:/DebianBased:/Auto/openSUSE…) on openSUSE 10.2 and now all of a sudden its gone!!??!?!?! Anyone know why this is all of a sudden missing and if its coming back? Caleb, As far as I know HFS+ never supported writting. This is the description I get for HFS+: "A portable, free implementation of routines for accessing HFS+ volumes. Currently only reading is supported. Authors: -------- Klaus Halfmann". Maybe there is other software that supports writing to hfs disks. Try hfsutils or something like that. [opensuse] Suse 10.3 problem with login on a automunt and LDAP-enabled network

Hi ! Installed 10.3 32bit yesterday and it rely is great! However I do have problem with the timings during boot, and the result is that the login screen (KDE) is displayed before NFS and automount is started, so the user logs in without a mounted home-disk! Not so nice. [opensuse] Porting a repository from 10.2 to 10.3

Hello, I just upgraded to 10.3 and there are a few things I need that aren't ported yet and I realize that you guys work on your free time so I'm wondering what I could do to help port a repository from 10.2 to 10.3. I want to start with this repo, (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Ports:/DebianBased:/Auto/openSUSE…). I use a few things on it in 10.2 and would like to port these to be compatible for 10.3. Can someone give me instructions on how to rebuild this stuff for 10.3? hey all, after updating to 10.3 on my g4 i am having some issues with my hfsplus drives. I can see them fine, but it keeps telling that they are write protected and will not let me write to them, even as root i can't change the permissions. Any ideas ? man i have looked everywhere for the setting that blinks the screen off after like 20 minutes. I've turned it off in kde and i thought sox2 but still it does it. anyone know where this is hiding ?
