[opensuse] Font in K-Menu bigger?

I personally subscribe to the rule of "Thou Shall not Upgrade" and "If it isn't broken, Don't fix it" I installed 10.3 on my laptop and wasn't sure it was going to survive but somehow it cleaned up its act and seems to be working okay. (On the first reboot, it did a lot of disk checking) I am still running 10.1 on my main desktop and it sits behind a firewall on my personal network so I am to concerned about having the latest security patches and updates although I do run the update manager, frequently holding my breath. I considered upgrading to 10.2 but it wanted to remove too much stuff that was installed in 10.1. I have too much stuff on the computer, big hard drive, and would not want to rebuild from backup, which would absolutely be required. Just do not have the time, what I have works! [opensuse] opensuse 10.3 box vs iso versions

I have just installed opensuse 10.3 86_64 using the iso version. I also ordered the box version from Novell which it has not arrived yet. Q: is there any difference between the iso image and the dvd from the box? Q: is it worth to reinstall it when the box version arrives? Q: if there is a difference what repositories I have to add to be the same Q: registering the code with novell what gives me besides the online/phone support Some of the answers may seems obvious but.... [opensuse] Minor? problem in upgrade to 10.3

The pango-32bit 1.18.2-4x86_64 downloads but fails in the script. This is true from the DVD or the OSS repository. [opensuse] 10.3 on an old box installed like a dream

( waiting for my boxed set to do a full everything and the kitchen sink install ) I just put it on an old p3 , just to "see" if it would have any problems.. I will be redoing the box anyway , because we are changing the MOBO soon, so it will be on an older ( Athlon THunderbird )chip but that should be no problem. It's gone very well, tho I was surprised that xmms wasn't on the dvd (download), it's going to be pretty easy to find I suspect. I tried to find it to install it after the basic install, i.e. software management--> search--> xmms, and it didn't appear.. ( and the search isn't comcerned w/ capital letters or lower case ones ) It is only an oddity, but It made me wonder. Marcus, love what you & the rest of the *keeping us safe from ourselves and others* "team" have done. I still have all my options open, but out of the box the darned thing "just works" . Firewall and everything is just ticking along w/ no real time involved in tweaking things yet, but as smoothly as it's gone so far, I don't anticipate any problems. The one click install really exhits. Defaults for security and everything are really tight and even on this older and MUCH slower box reboots or just general issues seem much faster. I love that Novell has included the mp3 stuff out of the box.. ( now please stop whining about that .) I haven't installed stuff to play dvds but that isn't something I do in the first days of a new install anyway. But the fact that little P3 and probably only one 256m memory stick.. is "speedy" again, it's at least as fast as when it was new. I'm pleased. :) The one thing I get from folks who sell linux hardware , when I ask them to install Suse as my OS of choice, is red hat et al is much faster.. I'm guessing that is ubuntu these days. We haven't bought any new hardware for a couple of years that hasn't been a bare drive or ram. We are in the market for a new computer ( at least one,) so I'd appreciate if anyone installs 10.3 on things like emachines etc. (yeah, some bosses are skinflints on everyones' computers.<sigh> That is unlikely to change til the next generation of users comes along. ) if they would post here their thoughts and or issues. I know some of you have the lower priced versions of stuff.. [opensuse] I need a kernel

The last upgrade of the 10.3 kernel (.31) erased the only version that worked with my hardware raid controller driver. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of saving the RPM for *kernel*-bigsmp-*2.6*.*22.5*-*25*.i586.*rpm* on the raid the controller controls and guess what, before I could recover it, I had a power failure which required that I reboot. That left me in .31 due to the fact that the old kernel isn't saved anymore like it used to be as a backup. I wonder why that important piece of safety equipment was removed? Anyhow, if anyone has a copy of that rpm, I would dearly love it if you could somehow get it to me.
