I have email here working in suse 9.1. I burned the evolution directory to cdrom. On a second machine with Suse 9.2 I copied the directory from the cdrom to the home directory same user. Opening evolution in 9.2 did not recognize the settings etc. Is this something only performed at install? Burning CD -- Help Needed -- SEMI SOLVED!

Hi, A while back I write that I couldn't burn a CD on SuSE 9.3. I am now able to do so, with a strange procedure: I first need to mount/unmount an existing CD. After that, cdrecord can detect media in the drive and will perform the burn. Still a mystery, but at least I can now burn a CD!

9.3, aux mouse hangs

Suddenly my mouse stopped working and everything hung. Nothing worked anymore and I could not even type and reboot in a normal way. Found out that my aux mouse was the source. Even in my dos nothing worked anymore. I removed the mouse and installed an older working serial mouse. In dos everything works but in Suse the new mouse was not recognized automatically. Started in console, ran Yast and tried all com 1 mouse drivers. Nothing seemed to work. If I start Suse in KDE or Ice the mouse curser is there in the middle of the desktop and does not move. Finally I choose the do not see any mouse (or something like that) in Yast but the cursor is stuck in the middle of the screen. at least I can now use Kmail. How can I get a functioning mouse? Have the feeling that the aux port on my motherboard is playing games with me. Can I disable it?

SuSe 9.3 pro iso downloads

Hello, I was considering downloading the ISO image for 9.3 but I noticed that the 5 CD images are for the pro edition while the DVD image said "eval" version. Toshiba P35-629 -- WPA-PSK TKIP Atheros support in 9.3??

Mates, I'm toying with the idea of installing 9.3 on my Toshiba P35-629 laptop. One of the biggest concerns is whether I can get the Atheros wireless to work with the WPA-PSK TKIP security on the wireless lans I deal with. /usr/share/doc/packages/wireless-tools/README.wpa states: WPA is a system to enhance security for wireless LANs. The Linux support for it is not very mature yet and not all WLAN drivers support it already. You can use WPA with Atheros, Intel PRO/Wireless 2100/2200/2915, and Prism2/2.5/3 cards, the latter ones only with the hostap driver. This suggests that WPA will work with the Atheros wireless in the laptop. Has anybody else tried to install 9.3 on a P35-629?? Any thoughts are experiences are welcomed. -- David C. Hi! I got an error on SuSE watcher when it look for update and than i start update online on http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/ and http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/ and i there are an error: Signature check for patch info files failed. Cannot load patch information. Patch: OpenOffice_org-52349 I I have above pages ''as default''. I tried other servers and it looks that work but there are no update for OpenOffice. Thanks, Mitja

PDF generation using Samba - ok in 9.0, not ok in 9.3

Hi, I have been using the tip at http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2001-11-13-008-20-PS-SV-SW-0003 for a long time now, under SuSE 9.0. Now I installed a SuSE 9.3 box, and the same config lines won't work. system forgets how to start network at boot - it comes up again when net configuration is run in YaST

When System is booted, it fails to find the network interface: waiting for mandatory devices eth-id-00:0d:56:f7:0a:96 ...... No interface found increasing time in /etc/sysconfig/network/config WAIT_FOR_INTERFACES="80" does not help One way to get it going is running network configuration in Yast. This will start the network interface. I found one reference to this problem in the German SuSE list: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux/2005-May/0172.html This thread ends with the suggestion to compare the lsmod outputs before and after running network configuration in Yast. I think it's a bug. This is a install of SuSE 9.3 from scratch. When it can find the interface in YaST, it should remember it in it's configuration over boot. Has anyone seen this kind of problem or knows how to make sure the e1000 module is loaded at boot? If there is a different filter that you want me to use ( I used 'tcp port 80') let me know. Also I exported to text file with just packet summary line.
