Hello All, I have installed KDE 3.4 successfully (I think) and I seem to have a couple of problems. 1/ Open Office started shutting down when I tried to open a document. I fixed this by first uninstalling Open Office then reinstalling. 2/ Mozilla has its icons missing and I can't seem to get them back. I have un-installed it and re-installed it but this has not cured the problem. Does any one have a solution to this ? -- Clive. Fighting for darker skies. From 52:26:31N 01:27:48W

How to do minimal install on 9.2 ?

Hi, I'm doing fresh install of 9.2 with FTP DVD. I go into Software, and deselect all offered option, then it asks me to install some aditional packages (to base system), and when I accept it, there is "standard system with KDE" checked when I return to main installation menu. What happend to minimal installation option ? How could I perform minimal install on 9.2 ? Thanks in advance, regards, Rob.

squid proxy config , need help

Hi all, I want to configure my squid proxy server. I have 4 ranges of IP address and the total bandwidth is 128kbps I want to manage the bandwidth which: Customer use: 128 kbps Operator use: 64 kbps Management use: 32 kbps Development use: 16 kbps How do I implement this scenario? How do I have priority per subnet? Is there a way I can get to those who put the packages together? A couple of years ago, when I moved from one SuSE distribution to the next, TkDesk broke on an unfound lib file. For those who don't know about it, TkDesk is a little gem. It has few of the hundreds of bloaty features of Nautilus or Konqueror, but once a person disables the application launcher he is left with an incredibly useful little program. It's a little "Unixey" for some people, but for day-in, day-out file management nothing is faster. There is also a little editor for script touch-ups. It's a little difficult for first time users to try, however, when invoking the program brings up only an error message about a lost lib file. Fixing it requires putting the path to the file in /etc/ld.so.conf, which is not something someone new to SuSE Linux would know about. Attending to it is something those who put these things together should have done a couple of years ago. I'm on the verge of dusting off my programming skills and contributing to the project, but it sure would be nice if SuSE users could actually try it out without getting under the hood right away.

Once installed all was well and Audacity started right up. So starting from the terminal window showed the GTK compatibility error. It needed this upgrade to GTK to run properly. It just wasn't so helpful in that it didnt' tell me what GTK compatibility problem I was having, no mention of the version number needed or installed... so... not complaining... I think I'll be a student of Linux for a long time... lol... Your mention of init 3 vs. init 5... how do you change from one to the other to reinitialize the menus? Not that it is needed, now when I installed the updated audacity rpm, the menu item was created. It shows up under the menu Multimedia as the option Media Editor. (it's not called Audacity--kinda weird) But it works fine. But I'm curious to know these little tips... Thanks much for the push.
