no audio for xine

Under SUSE 10.0 with xine from Packman. When Trying to play a video I get "All Audio Drivers failed to initialize!" in Kaffeine, while in xine-ui I simply get no sound. Most interestingly though, playing music with Amarok and xine engine selected (backend set to autodetect) works perfectly. What can I do? Kostas

Firefox freezes on print -- anyone else?

I've been having a problem with Firefox 1.5 running under SuSE 10.0. When I print a web page, I get the correct printout and the printing window shows 100% completion. But the printing window won't close no matter what I do, and in fact the entire machine seems to be freezing up. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Googling for it has produced nothing. Paul

How do Athlon users apreciate suse9.3-> opensuse 10

Not long ago I put a Asus A8N-E with an Athlon-64 3000 into my machine, and bought a suse9.3 with it, as this was a version that supported the Athlon. I installed suse9.3 without problems. Last week I downloaded opensuse 10, and installed it as an upgrade to 9.3. First I installed 10.0 as a completely new system, but this gave me so many inconsisten- cies that I decided to restart installation from 9.3 as a root-system. I got this installed, but again with so many inconsistencies that I decided to go back to my 9.3 . How are other athlon-owners' experien- ces? I have taken the output of debugreiserfs -D <device> from two machines -- one which failed after mkinitrd and one that did not -- I was planning on looking at that as time permitted. I think you are alluding to actually reading the hex off of the drive though -- do you have a tool / scenario in mind? (and actually, I will need to do the 20 machine scenario for validation anyway. This is the real world issue that I will need to show has been corrected. I agree, however, that root causing the situation is more desireable -- but time / resources wise, If I can show that the problem is solved, I will not pursue it further, because I have so many other fish to fry). <snip> Thanks again ... Vera/DejaVu Fonts

I just default installed OpenSuse 10.0/KDE yesterday, and neither the DejaVu nor Vera fonts were installed. I looked for them in the YaST software installer afterwards, and couldn't find either there either. Why aren't they there? Problems with WiFi on OpenSUSE 10

Having just got a cheap iBook from my work (500MHz G3), I decided to install OpenSUSE 10 on it, and it went fine. Boots, runs KDE, no worry. Score one for the community version of OpenSUSE-PPC! I've used SuSE for years (since 7.3) on x86 but this is my first venture into the Linux-on-PPC world. There are, however, a few outstanding problems with this setup that I was hoping someone could help with. The main problem is my wireless network. I have just bought a wireless 802.11g router and dongle (matched pair from Buffalo) to allow the new laptop to connect to the wide world. The hardware basically works fine (at least, in unencrypted mode, a WinXP laptop can connect and browse; encryption is a whole other story). However, in SUSE, there are problems. The dongle is labelled on the box as a Buffalo USB AirStation G54 (WLI-U2-KG54). YaST recognised the dongle during installation and set it up as a MELCO WLI-U2-KG54 (Buffalo's website seems to call this device a WLI-U2-KG54-AI). The settings are: Device Name: wlan-bus-usb-2-1:1.0 IP address assigned using DHCP [the DHCP server of the router is enabled] Started automatically at boot However, if I use any of the tools that seem to be available to find a WiFi network (e.g. KWiFiManager), they say that there is no wireless interface, and hence cannot find the router. Any ideas on how to make this work? I'm fine with wired LANs (at home network level, anyway) but have never delved into wireless before. Thanks in advance for any help! No network connection && No Package Source defined

Since I started using the profile switcher to change between the wifi & wired networks at home, and the wired one at work I have an odd problem (that is to say: my laptop exhibits an odd issue...) Whenever I boot up, there'll be no network connection. Only when I do the following: - start yast - go into network devices > network cards It'll come up with a Initializing Network Configuration screen. At the first check mark (Detect Network Devices), it'll stop with an error message: No Package Source Defined. - I click OK It'll show both the network devices (Intel Pro 2915ABG & Dell Latitude D400 (actually, mine is a D800, but as long as it works...)) - I hit next without changing anything ... and I have a working network connection again. hi and happy new year, after installing 10 I ran the automatic repair and: filesystem postfix showed up in need of repair and have consistently shown themselves to need repair whenever repair is run? Anybody know why? Can anybody tell me how to delete extra cd/dvd units which were changed. the machine recognizes the new one but I cannot remove the old ones which are no longer on the machine?
