Don't have anymore message! :-( I find a solution (today) after 10 days install SUSE... insert a parameter acpi=off in kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst I don't know why, but with this line my ethernet work perfect! The SCSI drives (DVD reader, CDROM writer and reader) run off an Adaptec 29320 Ultra320 card, the IDE DEV writer runs of the IDE primary chain. There is no problem other than YaST is broken and Novell refuses to either admit so and/or fix it. They have refused to support my paid copy stating, after a month of jerking me around, that their "free" support does not include SCSI installations. Note that the install is being performed using an IDE drive, not via the SCSI chain at all. The drive in question performs the entire text portion of setting up to install, provides the gui portion of the install to include identifying the HD to be used, setting up the partition scheme for the drive, formats the drive, finds the mouse and identifies it, picks the time zone and location, and performs the package selection by default or lets me elect to personalize what I want installed, it then proceeds to the package install phase, loads (repeatedly) either 3 or 4 packages (always the same set) and then gets "lost" trying to find the drive its being running from all along. This setup is what I've been using to install versions 7.2 - 9.3 inclusive, and it's never gotten "lost" before. Thus my opening statement, there is no multiple drive problem. OBTW, the behavior repeats regardless of which of the four drives I use to do the install and it repeats when I used different pieces of media. So, is 10 crippled, don't know about "10" per say, but I'd say YaST is totally hosed. dave

Any sucsessfully apt-get upgrade from KDE 3.4 to KDE 3.5? I have one problem: important packets are keept back, specially kdebase3 and kdelibs3 (*) Anyone knows the reason or how to investigate it? Wireless ieee80211 patched for PEAP/MSCHAPv2 connections

I wanted to post this at the time it was resolved in hopes it would help someone scanning this list, but never did. Though the recent wireless discussion though spurred me to fire off helper statement for folks looking for clues. Useful for those running Suse 10 with a centrino laptop (ipw2200 driver) and are attempting a PEAP/MSCHAPv2 encrypted session. For those able to make PEAP/MSCHAPv2 session but can't maintain it due to wpa re-keying, download and patch the ieee80211 kernel code and install it to solve your problems. http://www.bughost.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=829

An issue I'm having with SuSe... I switched over from Fedora to SuSe on this particular server, and I've discovered (much to my dismay) that once a file has been saved, you cannot use Backspace in "Insert Mode" to delete characters or lines in your files. You can only delete text in that way if the text has been "freshly added," so to speak...if it is unsaved data. I don't know if this is typical of VI, since I'm a fairly new Linux user and am mostly familiar with Fedora Core 4 (and teensy bit familiar with Red Hat 9.0 from back that one class I took back in college). Is there any way to get around that...at all? I figure it's probably a real long shot but I figured it'd be worth investigating... -Myles

Postfix mail server

Hi, i currenty have a couple of servers running a qmail/vpopmail that server some mail for me. However i wanted to convert to postfix due to its good reputation and the fact that i'm now using SuSE and it seems to be the preferred server. 1) what are the requirements to get a server that authenticates SMTP requests, serves imap/pop3 mail and does everything with virtual domains. I would prefer to use mysql as the virtual domain handling, however - the default install of postfix on suse 9.3 doesn't support this correct? so... 2) what other method that suse's postfix does support is recommended. I _have_ googled this and unfortunately nearly everything i have come across that uses virtual domains, uses mysql, and i would really like a 'SuSE config' . However, if mysql (or any SQL db really) is the best way - then i'm happy to compile from source. I'm just being overwhelmed with the different daemons/programs people are using to get a mail server running, and i'm sure from one tutorial to another they are simply replacing one program with another - but then i see both of them used in the next tutorial. (ie one has SASL, then one had mysql - then one had SASL and mysql :( ). 3) If anyone has a suse specific mail server set-up tutorial, i'd love to have the link.
