APT SuSE 10 and 10.1

Problem with filters on mailing list in kmail

Hi I've been using kmail since I started using SUSE, and it's one of the email-clients I like best. However, I cannot get the filter on this mailing list to work. I'm subscribed to the LKML mailing list and quite a few others. I've tried putting a filter on x-mailing-list and put suse-linux-e there, and I've tried putting it in List-Id and List-post, I've also used <suse-linux-e.suse.com> and suse-linux-e(a)suse.com, with no luck. The mails appear in "INbox" instead of the mailbox "SUSE", and I have to manually move them to "SUSE" because the filter does not send them there. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Jon Jahren

bootup lost - want to Install 10.0 on system. Now has 9.0 + 7.3 + Win98SE

I want to install (as new) (from boxed set) Suse 10.0 on hdc3 hdc3 now is /data1 which is suse 7.3 Therefore 10.0 will overwrite 7.3 hdc9 now is root and is suse 9.0 I tried this on another box and I could boot into 10.0 and win98SE boot from hard-drive 9.0 no longer appeared as a boot option. I could mount and access it, but, not boot it. Blew it away. kids PC for game/IM/chat. Need ideas of where I went wrong during the installation? Most remaining boxes are important and I can't afford screwups. I am mostly a user not an admin. Low level skill set. Since 7.0 installed as new (from boxed sets) and they worked.(??) SMB on login

Good morning, I am setting up a 10.0 box for testing purpose on an existing Windows network. I need to automatically connect to an smb share at the user login. Each user has their own share. How to I do that without any user intervention? The usernames and passwords are the same on both the Suse and the Windows boxes. -- Thanks http://www.911networks.com

Error with GIMP

Trying to help out someone, I found an error in GIMP. I had sent her a PDF scan of a drawing. (I scanned it on my W2K system with Acrobat 6.) She was able to open it but wanted the image in GIMP. I instructed her to use the capture tool in photoshop to move the image to the clipboard then paste it in GIMP. (She's got Acrobat 6, SuSE 9.2 and GIMPShop 2.2) This didn't work. I tested it on my 10.0 system and found the same with GIMP 2.2 and Acrobat 7. Fortunately, she has KPaint and was able to paste there and save as JPEG. Since I'm at work I tried this on my WinXP system with the same image and Acrobat 7 / GIMP 2.2 (Windows) running. Sure enough, the image captured to the clipboard and was pasted in the GIMP image. Seems like there might be an issue with the clipboard synchronization in GIMP/Linux. Anyone else see this? -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part

Alt-gr chars not been displayed

Hi! I am using openSUSE 10.0 and its not showing "Alt-gr" characters like aroba, accents, backslash, etc. (I have a latin keyboard). The KB mapping seems ok because some characters (those not needing Alt-gr) are shown ok except Spanish question marks (¿¡) or accents (´) I tried switching to a US keyboard and works ok but I still need the latin characters, so its not a keyboard mapping/layout problem I guess (or am I wrong?) but something wrong with internationalization ... Xorg? Yast2? Kde-es-i18n support is installed, as well as glibc-i18n. Additionaly, if I try to use setxkbmap I get a ** glibc detected ** memory exception. Pls help! Regards, ~Fabián

Folks, First, thanks very much for the info on GPG keys in other repos. One more question, are there config files for YaST2 settings? Just hoping to copy files, instead of redoing configuration on every SUSE workstation. Thanks, Mike
