Hi, it seems that your storage system announces itself as scsi-2 which has a maximum number of 7 luns/target. If your storage system announces itself as scsi-3 more luns are scanned. your kernel parameters cannot work, because they don't apply to scsi_mod. Using scsi_mod is correct. Please have a look at /usr/src/linux/Documentation/kernel-paramters.txt. There you can find more options. Do you have ghost devices or missing luns? This parameter may help scsi_allow_ghost_devices. Virtual desktop (screen pans with mouse)

I've got my resolution set to 1600x1200 (which my monitor and video card support) but noticed after installing SUSE 9.2 on this machine that my desktop is 'cut off' a little bit at the top or bottom. By that I mean that if the top is cut off a little bit (.25" or so) and I move my mouse to the top of the screen, the screen will move to show the missing portion (like a virtual desktop that extends beyond the existing screen). How do I get rid of this behavior and not have the screen extend beyond the defined desktop? I thought I remembered an option for this somewhere, but looking in the Desktop settings, Control Center, screen size & resolution app, etc. I could not find it. Dear all, We are using tomcat5.0.27 of Suse9.2, in server.xml file we have specified deployOnStartup = true but this option is not working when we restart the tomcat5. If any one knows about it please us know. Regards Manoj Kumar

Bug in SLES 9.0

Hi Guys Today I came across a strange thing. I dont know if this topic has been discussed on this list earlier or not. Today when i was configuring my SLES 9 server to setup a mail server, when i was creating user name and entering password. The password is visible. I was amazed by this. Is this a really bug or I have skipped something while installing fresh SLES 9. Do anyone have any idea or suggestions for this problem. kanak

NIS Server - multiple domains

A couple of questions on NIS: a. is it possible to use a single (master) server to serve multiple NIS domains on the same physical network? b. can a slave server serve multiple NIS domains too as a fallback? Thanks. Peter

Why can't I RECORD sound through my microphone anymore?

Hi you, has anybody any idea why I can't RECORD sound using my microphone anymore? It has been working in SuSE 8.2 and maybe 9.0 (I am not sure and I don't know anymore whether I tried it in 9.1, I guess not). However, in 9.2 it doesn't work anymore. Despite that I CAN use Skype f.e. to make softphone calls and I CAN play soundfiles, but I couldn't figure out how to record sound using my microphone. Can anybody help please? hopefully Martin

rename konsole tabs with hostname

Hello everyone I know not really a suse question, but just in case someone on this list knows: I use konsole with tabs quite a lot to connect to a few of our servers - konsole makes this quite quick and easy with tabs, but there is one more thing I would like: Tabs named according to hostname. I can rename them manually, but this is not ideal - What I would like is for the tab to get renamed as soon as I connect to the new host (like the window title, it changes to the prompt - this would be ok as well). Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks, H

Hello SuSE prople, About two months ago I upgraded my entire system. I was using spamassassin before that. Didn't reinstall it. Time to do it !! The KDE 3.3.2 has kmail to be able to do spam filtering by itself. So rather than go through the whole Postfix, whatever, thing I am thinking of using that. The basic question is: Can I set up spamassassin (which is called by kmail) to use the Bayesian filters. And, would the sa-learn process be used under those circumstances? I have over 2000 spams that could be learned. Also how about "white" filters? Think all of this will work ?? Bob S.

Problem with Xwindows in SuSe9.2

Hi, everybody My question is does somebody see following error message on X windows. What do they mean and How to get rid of them?? The situation under that i got these errors is as following: try to run an application that need tk, tcl, tclx, python, the GUI shows up fine but when click on icon, i get these errors. I just installed Suse-9.2, and X-win and netscape work fine. XIO: fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descrptor) on X server ":0.0" after 360 requests (359 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Error: child terminated :Operation not permitted.
