Attempting to install package below from SUSE 9 cds, Yast says:
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/opt/kde3/

In /etc the file kde3rc contains the following:
I also get "/etc/opt/kde3: Permission denied" when doing updatedb.
I don't have an /etc/opt/kde3, or at least I can't see it...
jake@linux:~> ls -ald /etc/opt
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 96 2004-04-30 19:48 /etc/opt
jake@linux:~> cd /etc/opt
/bin/ls: kde3: Permission denied
linux:/etc/opt # ls
/bin/ls: kde3: Permission denied

Can anybody help explain this to me?
I have problems with mozilla printing. For some reason when I try to
print anything the Serif font is changed to Burnstown Dam. To anyone not
familiar with this particular font it is not the easiest one to read -
it looks like bits of wood nailed together. The San Serif substitute is
readable but I am not sure which one it is.
I don't think it has anything to do with kprinter because it occurs if I
print to file and also if I bypass it all together and print with the
lpr command. I suspect it has something to do with font encoding but I
have had problems with mozilla printing before and don't want to start
experimenting if this is easy to sort out.
Any help appreciated.
I've just switched to SUSE 9.1 and am investigating the new KDE. However,
there are a few things that seem not to be intuitive and I was wondering if
anyone could tell me how to do them.
1) If I create a new button on the toolbar for an app from the main menu (e.g.
JPilot) then I appear not to be able to change its icon because of
insufficient permissions. In Gnome, I can change icons to whatever I want - is
this not possible in KDE?
2) It appears not to be possible to create popup menus of arbitrary
commands/apps as it is in Gnome (with the drawer button type). The nearest
I've managed to come is creating a directory of scripts and placing this on
the toolbar as a quickbrowser, but this isn't a very elegant solution. Have I

In Australia, I have had SuSE 9.1 Pro on a pre-order since mid-April...still waiting.
Still, after reading the postings on this list I am glad. Hopefully all your Horror Stories of installation and configuration will be solved with patches before I go to install. :-)

I have a Belkin USB wireless LAN adaptor (F5D6050) which works fine with
SuSE 9.1, except that after reboot I am required to briefly unplug then

Is there any magic I can perform using software that will have the same
effect as this procedure?
I'm trying to use multisync to sync between a Palm and Evolution. Has
anyone gotten this to work? I've tried 2 other versions besides the one
that comes with 9.1, but NONE of them work. The only thing happening is
that a test appointment I created in Evolution is making it back to the
Palm, but nothing from the Palm is coming over to Evolution. I tried
creating an inverse pair in multisync, but this didn't work. Is this
related to the gpilotd brokeness? I just don't know; I've never used
When logging in locally in a WindowMaker session, everything is fine.
When logging remotely to a WindowMaker session via xdmcp (tested with Reflection-X and X-Win32), the colors are bluish.
Anyone knows why? And if there is a way to fix this?
