PHP, sessions and SUSE 9.1

Hello people, I have a PHP script that used to work fine in apache 1.3.x. Yesterday, I install SuSE 9.1 and my script stop working with Fatal error: Call to undefined function: session_name() By Google, I found that phpinfo() could show me the truth and it was there : PHP Version 4.3.4 Build Date May 7 2004 18:42:35 Configure Command './configure' (...) '--disable-session' (...) So, why the hell php4.rpm from SuSE 9.1 was compiled without support for sessions? How I can enable this without breaking rpms? I suppose I have to install PHP4.src and then, compile --with-session, but what file(s) do I have to substitute (only /usr/bin/php?)? Thanks

Suse 9.1 - NTFS not supported

Hi, Suse 9.1 installed (new) kernel 2.6.4-54.5-default now installed after YOU on saturday. Now I found that I could not reach my win-xp on NTFS..found not in fstab..added with ro as usually. mount -a Surprise..mount: fs type NTFS not supported by kernel. When installing the 2nd drive with xp was there..but seem not to be detected. suse 9.0 had no problem. Please is there a way to fix this? Which version of Suse for these task ?

Hello all, I am new to Suse and relatively new to Linux. I would like to put Linux on a x386 PC. The task of this station would be : - work as a router (sharing an internet connection) for my internal LAN, - work as a firewall for my internal LAN, - work as a print server, cvs server,... for my internal LAN. Can I do it with "Suse Linux 9.0" or do I have to buy "Suse Standard Server"? If I buy Suse Standard Server, did I have to pay every year ? Thanks, Jean

The things is, I didn't order it :) So, some kind soul somewhere bought and paid for 9.1 in my name, but I can't get anyone to 'fess up to it. Help with internal ip / host names

Hello. I'm having a complete brain fart here, and can't seem to put in the right information to google to get what I need, so I was wondering if someone could help enlighten me. I have a test server set up on our local network here, and its almost running great. The problem is that in order to access the computer you have to use the internal ip address and cannot use the computer name. How do I bind the computer name to the ip address (this is only for access over the internal network), so for instance when I need to go view the web root I can type in http://computerName instead of http://192.168..... TIA! Daniel

No gateway for local addresses

Hi all, I guess this is a very basic question, but I do not get anything googling. I have several linux machines here in my office, and I'd like that all sorts of connection amongst these machines do not pass through the general gateway, but go directly from one to the other. What has sound and what does not in SuSE 9.2

I have run several programs under SuSE 9.1 using KDE. Programs with sound: KsCD: Plays CD's no problem. Grip: Played CD's and ripped ogg files. (system froze when I was running kdetv with grip, keyboard lock, had to reboot) Jux: plays fine using the ripped ogg files. xmms: works great. Frozen Bubble: works with sound. The only program which does not provide sound so far is kdetv. When entering KDE there is no sound announcement but leaving KDE there is a sound announcement. Problems with Apache2 & PHP on 9.1

(sorry if this is a bit long, but I wanted to include enough info) Hi, I can't seem to get apache2 and php working together here. If I don't install apache2_mod_php4 then apache works properly, but as soon as I add modphp then apache2 won't serve pages.
