Beware though gentoo is not for the faint of heart. Stage one installs and be very lengthy and complicated for some users if dont know what they are doing. SQUID Setup

Hello, Im new at SUSE/Linux, I am trying to set up a proxy to speed my dial up access. I have ensured that Squid is running and changed the browser setting to 127.0.0.0 but it is not working - is there a simple instruction list that I can follow?? Cheers, dse

How do you know its not working? Just as a proxy squid will not speed up dialup. If you make squid a caching server then it might, but its still not going to be any faster then your local cache I would think. Hi. I use SuSE 9.0, and would have Kweather to run here. I have entered the ICAO ID, but it tells me, that the station doesn't exists. Thats not the true. It works fine on my SuSE 8.2. scpm-0.9.4-56 (9.0 Pro) RPM bug found

Hi, all -- I've discovered a problem with the scpm RPM shipped with 9.0 (and not yet updated in YOU); who do I tell? The RPM extracts /var/lib/scpm/#LOCK (apparently a lock file) which means that yast cannot enable scpm and instead just hangs. Manually removing the lock file took care of the problem. Does anyone know if Novel is going to discontinue support for the free versions of suse and go with just enterprise like redhat did? Thanks

Red Hat discontinued a whole product line and dropped its support. I don't see many SuSE enterprise customers on this list (I mean having purchased the enterprise edition), they are out numbered by the Pro/Personal editions. Wouldn't worry too much about SuSE doing a RedHat, RedHat has always made the weirder moves! Plus RedHat leaving that space has left that market open imho. hi all, Is it legal to watch a DVD under linux (in USA)? ------ NO ------ but if you ask "how", the americans will give you answer. why? Why when our rumanian friend ask question about VNC, the american would give him a cold water? I really think we should not judge someone by nationality, color, race, etc. And we shouldn't force other nation the american/arogant way. the american way is not the world way. if you (american) think it's illegal, THEN don't answer it. let others that thinks it right to answer it.
