strange email problem, not Linux

As I have not been able to use Linux since a major crash a month or so ago, I am corresponding via Eudora on Windows XP. (I will install 9.2 as soon as it comes out.) However, some kind of goofyness caused Eudora Pro 4 to terminate abruptly after downloading about 6 messages. Reloading the program from scratch did not help. Since this is not an MS product, I am surprised that it was attacked, and the problem may be some kind of fluke, but I thought I would alert the group. I called my ISP and had them remove all the mails from the inbox at their end, and so far, I can receive mail again. There does not seem to be any indication in Google of this situation, so it may be just a crazy fluke, but it could be that someone decided that he doesn't like Qualcomm, and put some kind of virus or worm on line. I don't know how such a thing could work, but it was certainly repeatable. (I could d/l the same 6 messages any number of times, but no more than those.) Then Eudora complained (upon being restarted) that the Inbox directory was corrupted, and would I like to recreate it. It didn't matter whether I did or not, the problem remained. I would appreciate any feedback from any of you out there who have run into this, and especially if you have found a way to fix it. --doug

Sendmail rejecting email - dont understand why

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why our mail server is rejecting emails from a specific smtp server ? In the sendmail logs, I get: ruleset=check_relay, arg1=smtp.xxx.xx, arg2=xxx.xxx.x.xx, relay=smtp.xxx.xx [xxx.xxx.x.xx], reject=550 5.7.1 Access denied This is causing a problem as one of my hosted domains is not receiving any email sent from the company with the smtp server that is getting rejected. I am beggining to think this check_relay is looking in some black lists and possibly finding that their smtp server is black listed... If this is the case, how can I a: check this is the reason, b: resolve the issue. Any help greatly appreciated. Richard Curtis

I am running 8.0 and 8.2 (2 boxes). On the DVD-RAM I am using FAT32 so i can read/write via dosemu for backups, etc. on items 1-4 below I need to be able to read ones already written, and write additionally to them. I have a DVD-RAM drive. Do I need to have separate entries in my fstab for the following, or can I just have one. They all point to /dev/sro, but the file systems are different: cd-rom cd-rw or cd-r dvd-rom dvd-rw -r +rw +r dvd-ram Also, do I need separate icons in kde for each of the above? tia, John Sowden American Sentry Systems. isag shows no data source selected

I am looking for a performance tool on SuSE, from what I read isag is able to present the sar data. I tried a. isag b. isag -m sa.2004_10_[0-9][0-9] and when I click on chart, it always shows "No data source slected for: .." Second NIC Not Detected on Boot

OS: SuSE 9.1 with kernel 2.6.5-7.111 WE have two identical systems built using the ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard with an Athlon 2500+ processor. The bulit in NIC is detected fine but the following errors appear in the boot.msg log concerning the second NIC: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device interface eth1 does not exist However, if I go into YaST => Network Devices => Network Card, both NICs appear in the top window as detected but not configured. (We are using both as part of a bridging firewall based on Shorewall, hence do not set them up in YaST.) At this point I can abort out of YaST and manually execute the /etc/init.d/bridge script and both NICs are found. Question: What does YaST use to detect NICs? Thank you, Lucky Leavell

New Kernel

I use SuSE 9.1 with kernel 2.6.8 vanilla, and everything is fine. Kernel 2.6.9 has recently been released, and I don't know if I should upgrade. Does anyone know if it is any good? It is ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.9.tar.gz if anyone wants to try it.
