Re: [SLE] fstab entries for dvds, etc.
I am running 8.0 and 8.2 (2 boxes). On the DVD-RAM I am using FAT32 so i can read/write via dosemu for backups, etc. on items 1-4 below I need to be able to read ones already written, and write additionally to them. What I am doing now is I have a separate entry for each file system type, and separate icons.

cd-rom cd-rw or cd-r dvd-rom dvd-rw -r +rw +r dvd-ram
Also, do I need separate icons in kde for each of the above?
If you have SuSE 9.1 with subfs, then the answer is no. subfs will take care of the differences. Also, there aren't really that many variations wrt. to the filesystem types. You're really dealing with only three scenarios:
1. A completely unformatted DVD or CD writable or rewritable disc 2. A disc with ISO9660 filesystem 3. A disc with UDF filesystem
For 1., there is no fs, so the only thing you could do is to prepare it for burning via an appropriate utility. For 2 and 3 subfs will mount it for you automatically upon disc insertion (as long as you have an entry in your fstab for subfs on that device).

Yeah, sounds like the right solution in the absence of subfs. -Ti -- Ti Kan http://www.amb.org/ti Vorsprung durch Technik
