YOU connection problems

I've updated a box to 8.2 and am having some connection problems while running YaST Online Update. Essentially, the connection to suse.com always times out after a few minutes and I have to put in a mirror by hand. Any solutions? There is one obvious mirror for me to use and I'd like to set this as a default without going through SuSE.com. ++ Switching the firewall off has no effect. wget is using passive ftp. The network card (and network) is 100Mbps and I can usually get several Mbps directly from suse.com and a lot more from other mirrors. I'm using text-mode YaST because its easier. Can't print to WinXP hosted printer

Added the printer using Yast2. The WinXP Server and the printer were both seen by Yast2 during installation and the "Test SMB Access" test was successful. When I print something though, it just sits on the kprinter queue and never actually prints. I'm running Samba and the workgroup in the smb.conf file is the same as on the XP machine. Anybody know what might be the problem ? Thanks, Rob

Kernel compile version

I just downloaded the updated kernel for suse 8.2. When I tried to install the new NVidia driver, it said the driver didn't match the kernel. So I let try to build a kernel module. It gave a "gcc mismatch error, your running kernel was compiled with a different version of gcc than you are using." Great! This is the second time I've had this problem. Does anyone know which compiler was used for the latest OFFICIAL kernel for suse 8.2? I don't mean the Mantel "next" kernel, but the production kernel which now distributes with online update. The only way I could fix this in the past was to download the matching compiler. SuSE should make it a practice of keeping the compiler standardized for the life of a particular release. Especially considering I pointed this out to their techs the last time it happened. John S.

when downloading the updates from the suse site, can you just download the lastest or do you have to download and install each update. ie. imapweb32. do I have to download everyone one of those, or will the latest have all of the previous corrections included as well as the new fixes. I put this line into my crontab: 29 21 * * * xmms -p /home/adagilson/acordar.m3u Although, the command line: xmms -p /home/adagilson/acordar.m3u ...can play a list of mp3 very fine when executed by a Gnome terminal, it is not working with Cron. Problems with PDA and gnome

Hi, I'm using gnome 2.2.4 rolled by ULB (thanks Rubber). I want to configure my PDA (USB Sony Clie in /dev/ttyUSB0) to access it from Evolution but the configuration with gnome-pilot fails. The pilot configuration freezes when it tries to retrieve the user name and ID. The pilot ends up failing the connection ... It is not a problem with the connection or with pilot-link, I use this PDA for more than a year with J-Pilot. Regards EJ
