The xine player is also giving me headaches... it just nicely gets loaded, allows me to make a dialog box selection, then crashes the display server, apparently. At least OOffice works (<G>) & there are alternate players but none seem to work as well as xine did on mdk9. ...CH -- SuSE Is All U Need.

I think that volume means that you should be able to record whatever would go to your speakers but I have only done line input recordings from my TV/Radio card so I am not certian of that. Well I think I am at the point where I would have to punt, I don't know where to go from here. ataraid controller chips and 8.2

Hey Group; I have a friend that has a new very fast motherboard with a ataraid RAID chipset which can be set as an additional IDE set. SuSE8.2 finds the chips. SuSE has /dev/ataraid/* as major number 114 - No problem! However, I have tried "mount" on just about all of them with no luck. signal out of range

I just got a new 17 inch LCD monitor. I get the following error message when I boot my linux box up when this monitor is hooked to it. Signal out of range h: 46.4KHz v: 86.7 Hz mode should be below 1280 x 1050 / 75 Hz. How can I fix this so that I can use this Monitor with my linux box. thanks jack

OK, I just got a Creative Labs MuVo and managed to figure out (to an extent) how to put files on it. Now to advance. How do I make an mp3? I know I can download them, but I want to make some of my own. Tom P.S. RIAA - If you're listening...bite me!

XD2 instalation

Hello, I've been trying to install the new Ximian desktop XD2, but when I'm fetching the files I get always an error of a missing file related with nautilus. I though that waiting some days will make it work, but it seems like this file is missing, I have even browse through the FTP's and haven't find it. I'm trying to install it to my SuSE 8.2. Does anyone know what happen? Regards Juan C.

SuSE on Dell Laptop

Hey, I'm trying to get SuSE set up on my girlfriends new Dell Inspiron 1100 and am having some issues. The ACPI doesn't install properly (I get the message about parts being installed but some things missing) and the bootsplash doesn't work. Even with splash=silent in the menu.lst I still get the plain ol' text boot. I've tried doing the install with the boot option of acpi=force and that didn't help. Doing it with acpi=off apm=on got apm working correctly but I don't know if that will allow me to do things like suspend to disk. If anyone here is running 8.2 on a Dell laptop and has any tips I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Vince

Hi there! Is there any1 who has already built the MyDNS rpms for SuSE 8.2? The rpms provided by them has the RH /sbin/service dependencies = unusable on SuSE... Thanks. Radu

BTTV doesn't working ...

Greetings ! I've got SuSE Linux 8.1 Professional After an attempt for command "modprobe bttv" system gives me such message: # modprobe bttv /lib/modules/2.4.19-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
