cp truncates files >2GB

Hi - I'm running SLES 7 and discovered to my horror that cp only copies the first 2GB of a 3GB file!!! Has anybody else come accross this, and are there any workarounds / patches ? regards, Keith

While I can understand why one could be a little annoyed with the rather dismissive attitude that author has (IRT Linux in general), why fume? Why get all worked up about one author's laziness? If all the author did was copy-and-paste a circa mid-90's anti-Linux rant from a newsgroup or e-zine (as I suspect), and never bothered to do any serious research with any number of modern-day, easily installed distributions (Mandrake, SuSE, Red Hat, etc), then shame on him. As far as scaring newbies away, that's just the way it goes. Anybody who relies on only a *single* source of infomation (e.g. Windows-centric sites like http://www.langa.com) is probably too lazy to bother with Linux anyway. Cheers, Todd

apache in 8.2

Similar situation to what both John Lamb and Sourian reported but alas this is in a production environment. Basically I NEED php to be working like a rock so going to Apache2 at this point in time is not really an option. Clean basic install of apache When I goto boot, apache does not start as a part of the boot process. At the moment, all of the firewall stuff has been deleted from the machine just to ensure that this is not causing a problem (I usually use shorewall so that is ok.) chkconfig apache after a fresh boot says "apache on" rcapache status though gives a "unused" and trying to view the machine via any mechanism (either localhost, or by domain name or by ip) gives a "could not connect" error. In other words, apache is not running. WinTV audio problem

Hi, Following a hardware upgrade (motherboard) of one of my systems I am having an issue with sound when using TV applications, (i.e. kwintv or motv). Whilst I am getting a reasonable picture no matter what I try I cannot hear anything. The card is a Hauppauge WinTV card with its line-out audio port connected to the line-in port on a Sound Blaster Live card. Both cards were picked up and configured using the YAST defaults during the install process. They worked together quite happily before I upgraded other parts of the system and reinstalled SuSE 8.1. As far as I can see the mixer settings are all up high so line-in on the sound card is not muted. The sound card output works normally for other uses (e.g. MP3 playbackup or KDE sounds). Note that I am running SuSE 8.1 not 8.2 (because the tg3 driver doesn't appear to work with my network card on it and Promise haven't released drivers for the SATA Raid chipset on my motherboard yet for 8.2) Any ideas what I can do to get this working? mondo/mindi

Hi, Does anybody has experience with mondo/mindi (imaging/restoring application) in combination with SuSE (8.1)? I can't get it to work decently.
