wlan DSL yast

Hi, I installed a wireless card to use my DSL modem through an access point. My PCMCIA card it's ok but when I try to configure a DSL module with YAST, it give me only ethx card available. Why I can't use wlanx ? Thanks Andrea

Total mental meltdown over IPTABLES rules

Hello all! I must have post X-mas mental block or something.. But no matter how i read the IPTABLES pages and MAN's... How the fck do i write a rule to BLOCK a IP on the INSIDE net. That is i want to prevent one machine to use the internet at certain hours. (Kiddies past bedtime) And also, how do i drop the connection if it allready has established traffic out to internet. I tried to flush the iptable but apparently allready established traffic stil got thru.. So. What ruleset do i use to simply disconnect the specific IP? Adding programs to KDE menu

Hi all I remember at least in SuSE 8.0 there was a program that did search the HD and added programs directly to KDE menu. Now with SuSE 9.0 I can't find that SW anywhere.. But I don't remember even the name of it.. Help anyone? TIA Jaska.

Cannot connect some networking product

I face the problem that I cannot connect /telnet to some network product (Printer Server / ADSL Router, etc.) from SuSE Linux. But I can connect from Windows Station. I have no idea about this problem. Is the IP configuration problem in SuSE Linux ? Please advice. Best Regards, Andy

nfs question

I have a really annoying problem happening to my Sony Vaio laptop. It has a Xircom PCMCIA network card. I just loaded 9.0 on it, and mostly things are going well. The problem is that the nfs service will not start on boot. It always (100%) returns a "Network Unreachable" error. To get my nfs to work I have to log in as root and run "rcnfs restart," which works all (again, 100%) of the time. I've looked through /etc/init.d/rc3.d/ (I'm using runlevel 3 to avoid the startup graphics and login screen) to figure out how I could load something sooner, so I would have a confirmed network connection before calling nfs. Logging in as root to manually load nfs is a pain. Any ideas?

external serial modem problem in SuSE 9

Hi there, I bumped into a stupid problem. I can't make SuSE 9.0 system recognize modem on a serial port. I can use this same serial port with a null-modem cable as a terminal for an Ultra5 box successfully. I can use this same serial port to sync my Palm. When I connect a modem (tried both USR 56k and Hayes Accura 56k) whith a straight cable, I got no response in minicom from the modem. Lights on the modem are very strange too. SD and RD are on all the time and minicom considers connection to be online. On hangup (Ctrl-A H) lights blink and then no response again. ATZ (or any other input) returns nothing.
