The behaviour of autocompletion in SUSE 9.0 seems pretty different from SUSE 8.1 eg. ivan@hell:~> cd D[Tab] #works and complete to Documents ivan@hell:~/Documents> ls sylpheed-0.9.6claws-7.src.rpm rpm -vhi ./syl[Tab] #doesn't work...???? hints? annoying.

kopete 0.7.4 rpm for 8.2

Hi, where can I find an 0.7.4 rpm for suse 8.2. Apart from not being very good with the command line the person this is for does not have a fast PC to compile it in a reasonable time, whatever that would be. ;) I did not find any packages at packman, neither did the version in the supplementary directory for 8.2 solve the MSN problem as the one for 9.0 did. I do not have 8.2 so I cannot create one on my own, eben if I knew how to do it. Thanks, Sven

Hi, SuSE ftpadmin wrote here ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.0/README that the SuSE 9.0 will be avalaible during this weekend. Here, in Europe, the weekend is near to finish. Anybody in SuSE know where it will be on the server and mirrors?. Any change of plans? still having trouble with intel chip set

I think I have narrowed it down to the xserver I think I let run without Xserver running and it does not reboot Is there a new Xserver for 9 yet I have a P4 titan motherboard with an Intel 845GL chipset and it reboots all by it self I have suse 9.0 installed I have done all the update though yast and it still reboots it self It does it just setting there checking the logs it seem to do it when a cron job is running Is their a way to check if that is the case thanks I can send the logs if that would help I don't want to just post them I don't have a clue any help would be excepted thanks -- Hans hans007(a)prexar.com registered Linux user 289023 "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin

games using DirectPlay through suse firewall

Hi, I have a LAN with few Ms boxes and one suse9 box with firewall (needed for notebook connected to other netcard). I want to be able to play network games, that use DirectPlay under windows, on my notebook, so that I could access other computers on LAN. I already added static routes to MS boxes and notebook and I can ping in both ways. I used Yast for firewall configuration. LAN: 192.168.1.x NOTEBOOK: 192.168.0.x Suse9 BOX: eth0 - LAN, eth1 - notebook What do I have to do to get ports used by MS games using DirectPlay forwarded to box inside (notebook)? rgds, himba -- This €-mail was Kmailed.

Speed of 9.0 vs. 8.2

What is the general consensus regarding the overall speed of 9.0 vs. 8.2? I have read that there may be a speed hit in upgrading to 9.0? I have 8.2 running at a level I'm comfortable with on a P-III 1000 Mhz but only after upgrading to 512 Mb of RAM. What are the implications of moving to 9 if any? Cheers! K. Batch file renamer

Dear All, I am looking for an app that will rename alot of files at once. I downloaded krename, but cannot get it to install. It complains about not finding the qt headers but I have them installed, so I am not sure why that is not installing. Is there another app that I could use for batch file renaming that is simple with a gui? I have Suse 8.2. Thanks. Marcia

And I am sure people who understand files system better than I do are LOL at my simplistic reasoning. MainActor and vcd

Dear All, I have the Main Actor 3.5 on my Suse 8.2 and made a mpeg that I was hoping to change into vcd so that I may burn it on cd. My question is this. Can it be done through Main Actor? I thought someone did it with Main Actor here but I cannot figure out how. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marcia
